BJ is a young boy desperate to win the attention of his father. Tacco is the father desperate to win the admiration of his son. Together, their attempts over the course of a weekend visitation will send them further into a world of crime that will ultimately bring devastating consequences.




In September, 2013 Matthew became a father. "When I witnessed and brought my son into the world (I literally caught him in my arms) I was transfixed by these big black eyes that shielded themselves from the light and wondered what relationship I was going to have with this little man. What responsibilities I now had to undertake. What duty I now had to shape and evolve his development and delving further, how would the relationship I had with my own father affect my son?"

At the simplest form, Stye is a coming of age story. BJ is in the world between childhood and adulthood searching for a connection to his father.

This relationship of parent / child and in our film father and son is so critical in adulthood that we can learn so much from it. Adding complex relationships of only seeing the father every other weekend, means that the time together must be quality time and not about quantity. This is achievable for a happy and healthy relationship but rare, for the question of quality is subjective. And in the case of Stye, it is very subjective.

We want to make this film and we have some private investment in the film already. We have a highly talented cast and crew on board, and we need a little more to go towards production costs in order to fully realise this amazing project.


We are in pre-production now with shooting be in the April school holidays. Funds will be used to shoot the film, get our amazing locations and much more. Each dollar pledged will be seen on the screen. This is followed by 8 weeks of postproduction in picture and sound. Our film will be completed by July 2015 and we look forward to sharing it with you.


Our goal is to enter our film into A-list domestic and international films such as Berlin, Cannes and Sundance to showcase this amazing story.
