Last Adventure is in collaboration with Winter Wonderland, curated by Zanny Begg and Megan Monte and facilitated by Campbelltown Arts Centre;

The evening will feature a night of art, music, rides and carnival treats. Last Adventure will take place on June 6th from 6 - 9pm at O'Neill's Adventureland, an abandoned fun park in Edmondson Park, Western Sydney. The park will be reopened for one night only, and will be the final tribute to Western Sydney's forgotten fun parks.

So far, the programming group of curators have selected six emerging artists to create new work for Last Adventure. The only budget we have has already come out of our own pockets, and we're hoping to raise enough funds to pay our incredible artists for their time, materials, expenses and hard work.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS;

HANA HOOGEDEURE

Hoogedeure's work is concerned with the sculptural qualities of simple forms of shelter and the emotional response of our bodies within public and private realms. Centered upon an understanding of space, architecture and the nature of object relations, she constructs simple forms of anti-architecture such as cubby houses, makeshift tents, pillow forts and childlike shrines. Hoogedeure's work examines the emotive connections tied to these creations, orientated around notions of domestic ritual, personal mythologies and everyday magic.

TIMOTHY DWYER
Timothy Dwyer is a musician, video artist and sound designer living in Sydney. Having performed extensively under the nonsense moniker Horse Macgyver, his works and performances continue to evolve as an alchemical wash of digital distortions, improvisations, and internet psychosis. Since graduating with Honours from the ANU school of art in 2008 he has directed, curated, performed and exhibited in a myriad of different multimedia events. This includes touring cable access luminary John Kilduff (USA) of 'Let's Paint T.V.' fame and on Australian Shores in 2009. He continues to perform and exhibit throughout the country and is an active member of the video art collective Zonk Vision. Most recently he has returned from touring Java with the notorious experimental Indonesian noise outfit, Senyawa.

GISELLE STANBOROUGH
Giselle Stanborough is an intermedia artist whose practice often addresses online user generated media and the way in which such technologies encourage us to identify and perform notions of self. She graduated from COFA in 2010 with the University Medal and since then has exhibited in galleries around NSW and in Melbourne. Her work has been shown online in The Washington Post’s “Pictures of The Day” and in Hennessy Youngman’s “Art Thoughtz”.

ZACHARIAH FENN
Zachariah Fenn is a young emerging artist living and working in Sydney. He is currently undertaking his Honours year at UNSW Art & Design, studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Sculpture, Performance and Installation Art of which he was awarded the Art & Australia SPI Prize. Zachariah has curated and exhibited in many group shows in established Sydney galleries including Kudos Gallery, Gaffa Gallery and Art House Hotel and also in Toowoomba with artist comrade Emilio Cresciani.
Zachariah's work often deals with the human figure and it’s navigation through the natural environment. His practice is organic and spontaneous, responding to and building on the rich culture and history of a site. His practice involves documented performance works, site-specific installations and landscape interventions. Life, death, the spiritual, light and darkness, social isolation, heaven, hell, eternity – his Christian faith informs much of his conceptual and artistic approach.

KATA KOMLOS
Kata Komlos creates simple and quirky original designs hand printed on recyclable cotton goods. Each design is only printed in a limited amount (in each size) before it is discontinued, so each piece is unique. None of Komlos's designs are identical, which contributes to the attractive nature of handmade goods - you will see the artist's hand and notice some irregular beauties that come with hand screen printing each individual piece.

How The Funds Will Be Used

We are asking for $1500 to pay the artists for their materials, time and hard work. The artists we've chosen to participate in Last Adventure are all young practitioners. We believe it is incredibly important to show our appreciation and to support them in their future endeavors. Your generous donation will not only help our event to be a success, it will help these amazing artists in their ongoing careers.

If we meet our goal, $250 will go to each artist as a payment for their individual contribution to last adventure.

The Challenges

Our greatest challenge is to reach the intended target goal of $1500 in order to be able to pay the artists we have selected for Last Adventure.

The best case scenario is that we reach our target and are able to pay the artists for their hard work, as they have been incredibly cooperative and trusting of our fundraising abilities.

Our other challenge is our tight deadline to be able to raise enough funds to cover the artists' costs before the opening night of Last Adventure. We hope to meet our target to ensure that we are able to pay the artists immediately for their contribution to the project.

We have all already financially contributed to Last Adventure from our own pockets, and are more than happy to donate our time and curatorial knowledge towards the project. We believe that artists should always be paid for their work, and are working hard to ensure that the project is able to be a success for everyone involved.
