Brutally Honest Love Feature Film
Fig A. From left, Louis Emerson Chase (Jonathan), Daniel Cottier (Cameron), and Madison Lee (Louise) get into character during a behind the scenes rehearsal.
THE CHARACTERS:
Louise personifies everything that is wrong with Gen Y’s sub culture. From drug and alcohol abuse, social media addiction, and the absolute hunger for fame and material wealth for all the wrong reasons. Having grown up in a working class household, Louise decides she doesn’t want the “ordinary” life and desires something more lavish and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants.
Jonathan being apart of the Nerdboy Fandom and Pop Culture, exemplifies a society that is far from perfect. It’s a society that is riffed with bullying, poor self-esteem and sexual frustration.
Jonathan’s homosexual best friend, Cameron represents the heavily judgmental universe of ‘Barbies and Kens”. With their fake tans, bleach blonde hair and intoxicated fueled sense of self-importance, these “Jersey Shore” wannabes are quick to criticise and put down anybody they believe is “outside” of their norm.
Jonathan’s original love interest, Katherine is a young adult who has freed herself from a conservative upbringing. She is caught in the crossfire of all these sub cultures, whilst trying to find her own identity.
Fig B. Writer/Director Mark Nunnari, outlines the finer details of the of his screenplay's most challenging scenes.
I want to make this movie because its always been a dream of mine to write and develop a full length romantic comedy that travels on its own tangent and stands out from other romantic comedies. The film itself will cover various themes that is usually covered in a lot of famous romantic comedies such as: falling in love, falling out of love, dealing with rejection, heartbreak, and everything else in between but with one big exception. The film will be told from a guy's perspective. And as mentioned at the start of this description, will include references to the deep, dark, underbelly of Gen Y's subculture.

How The Funds Will Be Used

$26,500 is considered a small amount for a full length feature film, with intelligent planning, it's more than enough to cover the cost of the best equipment, the best locations, and the best crew members to make this a very provocative feature that will entertain, educate, and inspire the audience.
The funds raised through this campaign will go towards certain elements of the production that is deemed vital, such as:
- Camera Hire, Lights, and D.O.P (Director of Photography) - $12,000
- Production Design (Sets and Decorations) - $2,000
- Costume Design - $2,000
- Vehicle Hire - $1,000
- Transportation Expenses - $2,000
- Catering - $2,000
- Props - $2,000
- Location Hire - $2,000
- Emergency Funds - $1,000
- Gifts for the Actors to thank them for being a good sport - $500
The Challenges
Let me be honest. "Brutally Honest Love" is my first project that i'm making outside of film school. So I am not going to have any of my teachers from NIDA, AFTRS, or the Sydney Film Base standing behind me telling me if I'm doing something wrong. But on the other hand, I have spent the last three years workshopping my screenplay with my actors as you can see in the video above. Workshopping the screenplay has taught me that I don't need to have any of my teachers supervising me when I need to communicate ideas with my actors. Workshopping has taught me how to effectively convey ideas to my actors. I have enjoyed this process for the last three years, and I will continue to do so in future.
And it is through my workshops that I have gotten my actors emotionally involved in the project, they're super excited about this campaign and they themselves are going to do what it takes to get the word out.
I will also be updating this page with exclusive video footage of sample scenes from the screenplay using funds coming out of my own pocket. I am doing this to prove to you the audience, that despite the fact that this is my first feature film, I can still do my duty as a director to provide you with a film that is educational, inspiring, and just plain different.

Fig3. Talented actors Anthony Darvall (left) and Matthew Grego (right) workshop one of the screenplay's many most powerful yet memorable scenes.
