After a successful shoot in Mackay, Queensland, with an exceptional cast and crew, we've finished the production stage of the Blackbird Film Project.
Australian Solomon Islander Writer/ Director Amie Batalibasi, is now in the edit room, cutting together the 20min short period drama set in the late 1800s that follows the story of Solomon Islander siblings Rosa and Kiko as they struggle to survive whilst working and living on a sugar cane plantation in Queensland after having been Blackbirded from their island homeland.
Please note: this short and sweet crowdfunding campaign is also an opportunity for you to own the film on DVD. As this film is part of a university course, it's likely that the film WILL NOT have an official DVD release as copyright is owned by the university. However, through this campaign only, you can pre-order a DVD as a reward for your pledge to support the Blackbird Film Project.
We're chatting to a talented Melbourne sound designer right now and also chasing some great music and a composer we like. All we need is the funds to help us along the way!
