NEW TOWN is a new Australian project by "Feet First Ventures", the team who brought you the Sold Out award winning play STILL SEEKING OTHER as well as the film GUARDIAN ELF

BASIC SYNOPSIS
Set on King St in Sydney's Inner West, troubled University student Caitlin Davis meets Leah, a young woman from the other side of town who has been stranded without her wallet. Although the unlikely pair are initially thrown together by circumstance they find they have a natural bond. When Leah reveals she's actually dying of Cancer, Caitlin sets them out on a “Bucket list” style journey through Newtown, determined to help Leah come to terms with her illness and possibly find some meaning for herself.

The film will be submitted to All international festivals, as well as being used as a way to raise awareness about Melanoma.

New Town is ready to go, we have a wonderful, committed Cast & Crew and we are ready to commence shooting on the 29th of April. Everyone working on the film is a volunteer but there are a few thing which can't get around without some cash...

Who's Involved?
DIRECTOR- JONNIE LEAHY
Jonnie Leahy is a storyteller with a deep understanding of the creative process. Being on film sets since the age of six thanks to his mother being an art director, he soon became immersed in creative practice, working his way from in front of camera to behind it various camera department roles until his passion for directing became clear. As a recent graduate from VCA with a Bachelor of Film (Hons), Jonnie worked on his directed craft to realize North Kids, his graduating film that deals with themes of kidadulthood and young love. In 2010 and 2011 Jonnie collaborated with Nicholas Casey to put on a string of performances Electricity from Lemons, a theatre performance staged at Tinning Street Gallery, which explored the electrically charged spaces between complete strangers. The initial performance season was so successful that it ran twice more for extended seasons. Jonathan directed the first two seasons, and produced the last.

WRITER- MONICA ZANETTI
Monica is the One Woman driving force behind FEET FIRST VENTURES.  New Town is Monica's 3rd Script and 1st Feature Film. After completing her first film "Guardian Elf" she went on to write the Award Winning play "Still Seeking Other" a romantic comedy which opened to a Sold Out season in 2012's Sydney Fringe Festival. The success of these two projects lead to Monica being shortlisted for 2012 ArtsHub Emerging Artist of the Year Award. "New Town" is truly a project of Passion for Monica and she can't wait to see it brought to life with your help!

DP- RODRIGO VIDAL DAWSON

I have a wide range of experience shooting as a Cinematographer, from Drama,
TVC/promos, documentaries, 3D and also as a commercial fashion photographer.
My film career began when I was 18, taking inspiration from my families business, asuburban video shop. In 1994 at the age of 18, I started working professionally in thecamera department, on a four year documentary series “Pacifica & Oceania” forJuniper Films, with world-renowned doco Cinematographer Michael Dillon ACS. As I began to work my way up the camera department hierarchy, from assistant to 1AC /Focus, I was fortunate to work and to cut my teeth on great productions and technicians, from drama and tele-series, to music videos and commercials. My credits during this period of my career include; “Farscape”, series 1,2,3,4, “Nothing Men”,“Gabriel”, “Matrix”, “Bride of Chucky”, “Fools Gold”, “Cane toads 3D”, and manymore.
In 2005 my passion for photography took me to the water and I began to supportsuch masters as Roger Buckingham ACS and former Jacques Cousteau prodigy Robbie Hunter ACS as an Underwater Camera Assistant. This experience afforded me the opportunity to then become an Underwater Camera Operator and also Drama B Camera Operating, where I was able to study and work under renownedCinematographers; Alexander Witt ASC, Russell Bacon ACS, Ross Emery ACS, WarwickThornton ACS, David Bowring ACS, Danny Batterham ACS, James Cowley NZSC and many more.
These experiences fed my desire to become a Cinematographer and I beganphotographing projects in 2007. Projects ranged from music videos to short dramas, a series pilot for Rubicon films “Half life”, underwater Channel V promos, as well as assignments from such clients as Foxtel, AMP, Pac Mags, Event Cinemas, etc.
In order to further master my craft, I attended and graduated from the prestigiousCinematography program at the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) in2010. During the extensive program, lead by Kim Batterham ACS and Erika Addis ACSand Mentors included Roger Lanser ACS, Steve Arnold ACS, Peter James ACS ASC,Don McApline ACS ASC, and many others.
One of the great experiences I have had in the camera department is theopportunity to travel, work in many countries and having continued collaborations with amazing creative people.
I was the first Camera Assistant to work on the RED ONE, which now has become anindustry standard and one of the first two assistants to work on a 3D project in Australia. Cinematography and travel are two great passions of mine that I hope to continue combining.
I am committed to and have a deep passion for story telling, no matter what type ofproject, irrelevant of scale and format.
