'Thaw: a science fiction play' saw its beginnings in Writer/Director Stephen B. Platt's Honours studies in theatre and drama. In his quest to discover why there were so few sci-fi plays written specifically for the stage, he went out and wrote his own. The response was phenomenal - not only did we receive rave reviews from our audiences, the tickets for our evening shows sold out entirely!
All of this prompted Stephen to found his own production company, Thought Jar Productions. A place where creative ideas can be brought to life, and just maybe where we can champion one of the smallest sub-genres of theatre! But to bring our FRINGEWORLD remake of 'Thaw' to the next level, we're going to need your help to turn this into a reality.

T&C's for Merchandise
Please note that all tickets purchased through this pozible campaign MUST be collected prior to the show from the FRNGEWORLD Box Office which is located in the Perth Cultural Centre. There are no Fringeworld ticketing facilities available at the Nexus Theatre Venue.
The audio visual reward is entirely dependent on you providing us with an appropriate photograph of yourself against a plain background. This image needs to be a minimum of 800x600 pixels, and in jpeg, bmp or png format. Images can be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line citing your pozible username.
For anybody wishing to purchase one of the higher level rewards including merchandise (mugs, posters, and our Elsana branded jumpsuits) pickup for these rewards will ideally be at the venue. If you would like to make alternative arrangements please advise and we will endeavor to make suitable arrangements.

How The Funds Will Be Used
SET/PROPS
Being in a bigger venue means that our set is going to be bigger and more intricate. While some of the set will be re-used from the previous run of Thaw, we’re going to need help to make the world of Cryonics come to life for our audiences!
- Building Materials (mdf, pvc pipe, silver gaffer tape etc.): $500
- Paint: $200
- Props: $100
MARKETING & PUBLICITY
We gotta fill those seats! To help with this, we are getting flyers and posters printed and distributed, as well as the eponymous Facebook publicity, where we already have a dedicated following from our first run of the show.
- Flyers/Posters: $150
- Facebook publicity: $200
TECHNICAL
Not only do we want to film this updated version of the show, we also want to update the Audio-Visuals (AV)! Your support will ensure that we can give this show a more professional, and personalized touch! Check out our $15+ rewards for details on how you can be a very special part of the AV component!
- Filming: $100
- Custom AV: $200
COSTUMES/HAIR AND MAKEUP
Most of our costumes are being re-used from last time but we do have two new cast members who need to be clothed! In addition, the hair and makeup in Thaw requires a bit of specialist equipment – and skilled people to create it!
- Costumes: $50
- Specialty Hair/Makeup: $150
PRODUCTION TEAM
The Managers of the Nexus Theatre have kindly offered us the use of their performance space for free, with the condition that we employ their technical staff. Seems only fair! As actors and creatives ourselves, our dream is to be able to pay everyone involved in our productions. In this case, our actors and key creatives will be working on a profit-share from ticket sales, but our Nexus Theatre production team will be paid upfront for the excellent work they have been contracted to do.

The biggest challenges we are going to face is expanding our set design to fit the Nexus Theatre, and making sure the seats are filled!
Joined once again by the amazing John King who designed and built our set last time, we are confident that he can help us make 'Thaw' bigger and better. Much of our pozible funds will be going towards making sure he has the building materials he requires, which is why every little bit helps!
