Benalla Street Art need your help to follow up on the success of the 2015 inaugural Benalla Wall to Wall Street Art Festival!

We are a small group of like-minded art loving locals from Benalla, a small rural city of 14,000 located 2 hours north of Melbourne on the Broken River in the High Country of NE Victoria.

We came together in 2015 with a vision and belief that we could bring Street Artists from around the world to paint murals on bare walls, some over 3 stories high, over a weekend in March 2015. Victoria's first Regional Urban Contemporary Street Art Festival called Wall to Wall was born. The event was funded through canvassing local residents and local business who donated over $20,000. The generosity and vision of the locals paid off.



We commissioned ex-local resident Shaun Hossack & Juddy Roller Studios to bring together a collective of home grown and international street artists to transform our town.

The weekend saw thousands of locals and 'out-of-towners' tour the various murals to watch the artwork appear in front of their eyes. The excitement, the buzz, the interest and the spirit of it all was tangible. The results are truly amazing and speak for themselves. 14 high quality colourful murals created by world reknowned street artists adorn once featureless walls. In November 2015 a piece by Adnate, was voted 8th best in the world earning international acclaim! Recognition that put Benalla firmly on the map as a Street Art destination - and that's cool! So cool in fact that we want to do it again this year.

Since the last festival we've been working really hard behind the scenes, finding walls, finding artists and finding the money to stage the event. As with any project there are challenges and we've had our fair share to overcome.



Wall to Wall 2016 is going to be bigger and better. We have a world first in the street art community - a festival with 50% female artists, which we are really proud of.  Some amazing names confirmed to return in 2016 like Adnate & Guido, and some new names like Lucy Lucy will be having their Benalla debut. Here's where you come in - we need your help to make this festival happen!

Money raised will allow us to hold a truly great event. Here's how we think our funding breakdown will look:



We want to raise funds efficiently, but also make sure our supporters are getting value for money with our rewards system. 

Our current biggest challenge is raising enough money to put on Wall to Wall 2016 - that's where you, our supporters come in. Between crowdfunding, local support, and grant applications we are slowly making our way towards our goal of a fantastic 2016 Wall to Wall festival. 

A challenge we have faced throughout the entire process is planning permission. Large parts of Benalla are subject to heritage overlay, and we have faced many hurdles in obtaining permission from all relevant bodies for our chosen walls. This process is ongoing, but we are confident that we have the necessary framework in place to work through the system. 

Another challenge has been our success! Following the amazing festival that we held in 2015, many local business owners have come forward offering their walls. While this enthusiasm is amazing and we would love to make Benalla the street art capital of Australia, we just don't have the funds or the manpower to make it happen. We are hoping that the success of 2016 will help to raise the profile in the community, leading to more donations and more involvement from local business.
