What is Nuts for Nuts?

Nuts for nuts is a nickname for "pumpkin seeds for men’s health". Nuts for nuts is a new not for profit organisation that sells Highly nutritional Australian roasted pumpkin seeds to help raise awareness for male health and fight against its worse enemies such as Prostate cancer, suicide and depression. Nuts for nuts wants to help Men be healthier, stronger and live longer.

Each year over 3,300 men die of prostate cancer, that's more than breast cancer but with unfortunately less awareness. The sad fact is that many of these deaths may have been avoided with early intervention. Suicide is listed in the top10 of causes for premature deaths in men. 1 out of 6 Australian Men suffer from Depression. This includes teenagers and elderly men. Think of how many male friends or relatives you have, several of them may suffer from depression. Men suffering from depression are likely to resort to destructive behaviours using alcohol and other drugs which makes the situation far worse.

Who Are We Anyway?

Not the guy in the video! That is the one and only George Saad, our mascot manharlot (videos only).

My name is Chris. I am a Health Practitioner based in Melbourne CBD and I treat men's health. Through my work, I realised everyday how many men need help with their health. Prostate cancer touched a member of my family 2 years ago and it impacted on me how much this disease affected so many people. Fortunately he survived with surgery, but the crazy thing is that he had been silently suffering symptoms for months without telling anyone. The only reason he went to the doctor is because his wife was ill and he thought he'd go along and get a check-up as well. This story had a happy ending, but so many don't. It is a fact that 4 men die every hour from preventable diseases...that's PREVENTABLE diseases.

Have I done something like this before? Yes, I have worked for non-profit organisations before. I have raised money and volunteered in Animal Liberation, CERES permaculture farm (I have also studied permaculture farming), Buddhist communities, Toastmasters public speaking committee Vice President Public Relations officer and volunteered in various hospitals for 2 years in Nanjing, China.

Can I pull this off? Yes, with help. I am so fortunate to have great people around me! I have a marketing manager and a business mentor volunteering their time for the project 7 days a week, adding to my previous experience. Also, the guys at the Australian Pumpkin Seed Company, have donated their time and efforts to help me by dropping the price of the seeds so more money can go to the organisations that need it.
Why do we need cash? Because I can't do this alone. I came across this this amazing website (Pozible) 2 months ago and I hatched a plan. Stop talking and start doing. There are great organisations in place, they just need funding. So if you like eating healthy pumpkin seeds, buy some and help prevent prostate cancer and depression at the same time.

Where Does All the Money Go?

Nuts for nuts is a crowd funding campaign that collects funds from the community and directs them to organisations such as Beyond blue, Andrology Australia And Prostate Cancer Australia that lead projects to reduce the dramatic numbers of health issues for men that could be prevented.

To reward you for your support, for any donations over $10, you will receive a pack of our Natural Pumpkin seeds that have high nutritional value and are beneficial to reduce health issues (see below).

The Cash Breakdown

- $3.80 for our special wholesale amount (for small order) natural pumpkin seeds per pack

- $0.20 for Stickers and printing per pack- also generous price from local company for small order.

- So far have spent $150 on video and website so the first $150 covers our costs

- Once Costs covered and each packet costs $4.00, postage $1.20, thus total $5.20.

- For every $10 packet, $4.80 will be divided between Prostate Cancer Australia and  Beyond Blue.

As we do NOT draw a wage from our service (all for love!) and the majority of help has been volunteers and friends, the more money we make the higher the donation can be!

What's so special about your nuts?

Glad you asked! The pumpkin seeds we use are a 300 year old variety, originally from the Styrian region of Austria and Slovenia. They were brought to Australia by a family owned grower around 30 years ago and grown here using old fashioned chemical free methods, enriching the soil with tons of organic matter (mostly pumpkin flesh and cow manure).

These pumpkin seeds are very high in protein, zinc, magnesium, omega oils and B vitamins. The oil from the seeds has also been tested to outperform saw-palmetto for reducing prostate hypertrophy.

We have 4 varieties of seed on offer: 'Natural', 'Salted', 'Chilli' and 'Chocolate Coated'. The "natural' seed is dried and is so fresh, it can still be sprouted or planted in the ground to grow your own at home!

Our pumpkin seeds are grown in amazingly fertile Victorian soils without pesticides and chemicals- even the machinery is cleaned with eucalyptus oil! The pumpkins are grown for the sole purpose of their seeds as the best quality and species for prostate health.

We also want our company to be environmental friendly. The majority of pumpkin seeds on the shelf (probably 95%) come from China thus we don't know what pesticides may have been used in the growing process and local produce reduces carbon emissions extensively. Around 200 km's from Myrtleford to Melbourne CBD, compared to well over 8,000 km's from China to Melbourne. That's a big difference in water and fossil fuel consumption, not to mention exhaust emission.

 Help us attain our goal to make a positive change in our world.

We have set our minimum goal at $5,000.This covers the cost of the campaign as well as the donations. If the pledge goes over $5,000, this would be fantastic! That means we can prepare stock in bulk and distribute it to retailers with a competitive price, so we can expand the campaign and increase donations.

Our deeper ambitions

$10 000 will enable us to create a distribution network around Melbourne to sell our not for profit products in health stores all year round.

All pledges over $10 receive at least one 90g packet of natural pumpkin seeds. All profits become donations. Donations increase with the level of pledges.
