That’s right, someone has killed Fin Jones. Yep that handsome arrogant son-of-a-bitch from the soap opera Obsession. Thing is, everyone has a motive! But can Detective Sizemore and his trusty sidekick Stumbles solve the crime?

Written by Romina Accurso, Sam Atwell, Louise Bowes, Jenny Lewis and Gary Sewell, the in-house scriptwriters for Home &Away at Channel Seven
SET the play is a brand new Australian work directed by Sam Atwell (Home and Away, Bondi Dreaming), for a limited season at NIDA Parade Theatres from 1 to 18 May 2013.
SET is a murder mystery that takes place behind the scenes on the set of an Australian TV soap opera. It takes a swing at the ‘glamorous’ world of television, sticks its nose behind the clapperboard and exposes what is real and what is scripted. And as we all know, sometimes the very best work is done off camera!
Arrogant TV heart-throb Finlay Jones (Trent Baines, Home and Away) has been murdered and like all good who dunnits, everyone has a motive. There’s Fin’s girlfriend and co-star, Patricia (Christie Hayes, Home and Away) who’s really in love with the show’s director; the publicist who created him; the makeup girl, who is in love with Fin; the First AD who’s in love with the make-up girl; the jealous ‘other guy’ on the show; the producer, who is at the end of his tether with Fin; and the producers’ wife who can see her husband’s empire collapsing. Oh and the writer who everyone ignores. Phew! That’s a lot of coulda dunnits
Enter (stage-left) the Columbo-esque Detective Bryan Sizemore to solve the case! Well actually his junior, Stumbles, will probably work it out but you can’t be sure of anything on SET.
YOU WANT MY MONEY?!
We do. Or rather we need your money! You see even though none of the cast or crew get paid, it still costs a small fortune to put on a theatre show. What’s more, we haven’t had any funding for this at all, so we’re paying for everything.
The majority of our revenue is through ticket sales, which we don’t get until after Closing Night. So we have to pay upfront for all the fixed costs like set design and build, props, wardrobe, marketing etc. The crowdfunding revenue enables us to invest in these areas ultimately creating a better show.
But it’s also a chance for you to get involved whether it’s booking your Front Row Seats, attending a rehearsal, becoming the Assistant Stage Manager for a night or even becoming an Executive Producer. For those unable to come, you can just simply support independent theatre.
Whatever you pledge, the cast and crew of Set greatly appreciate your support, and we promise to give you big sloppy kiss after the show. Or not.
