An icon of Brisbane's cultural scene with over 12 years experience as an event co-ordinator and publicist, he has remained successful due to his constant ability to diversify within a changing industry - cinema.


WHAT KRISTIAN DOES

Since 2000, Kristian has run cult and classic movie events and screenings around Brisbane, Australia.
He was the man behind successful movie programs at Globe Theatre, Metro Arts and Tribal Theatre.

Kristian can currently be seen running:
*The Rocky Horror Picture Show with live Cards 4 Sorrow floorshow (since 2000)
*Monthly trash movies at Room 60 bar, Kelvin Grove (since 2012)
*Monthly and one-off movie events in Brisbane City Council libraries (since 2001)
*Cult movie nights at Shady Palms bar (since 2013)
*Schonell Theatre - one-off events including CINETASTIC, a student movie night (since 2000)
*Classic movie days at bowls clubs and seniors centres (since 2012)

He also runs 70s and 80s dance parties which incorporate music videos & concert films.

With an ever-changing program of themed movie events and screening nights, Kristian has remained an integral part of Brisbane events for his consistency and diversification.

Kristian is essentially an independent sole trader and there are many costs involved with running these events such as licensing fees, equipment setup and operation, venue hire, staffing, entertainment and promotion.
By obtaining this equipment, Kristian can eliminate some of these costs and focus more on creative and interesting projects. He can think outside the square without being tied to any particular venue / location, expanding into pop-up style events and taking movies to unusual places and spaces.
It's time to spread the reach of his events further, away from the CBD and major venues. These movie events will also incorporate the screening of locally-made features and shorts, ensuring a constant means of bringing these works to more accessible audiences.
