What It’s All AboutYou’ve just landed in a brand new place. You don’t know anyone. You don’t have a place to sleep. Your previous education or work experience is completely irrelevant here. Hey, you don’t even speak the local language. All you have is your common sense and the characteristics you chose for yourself. Now let’s see you play your way to success (and survival)!
Metropoly was inspired by our love for the games we grew up playing – The Game of Life, The Sims, Monopoly and the great old Sierra game - Jones in the Fast Lane. We love games where you enter a new world and have to explore and discover its opportunities while strategizing your path to victory.
Our vision is to merge familiar and loved game mechanisms
with the advantages of today’s technology. As you can see in our very
amateur (but loveable... :) video, we’re keeping Metropoly click-based
and with simple graphics so it’s easy to play, and bringing in the
social world where you can compare your progress to your friends or
strangers, but mostly play with them, as other residents are a
significant part of town.
Once you enter Metropoly, you're given a fixed number of characteristic points which you have to assign to create your character. Your character will have your ideal mix of being clever, lucky, handy, charismatic and more. These characteristics will affect almost everything you do in the game - a more clever person has a higher shot of acing a test at Metropoly college, while a very charismatic person has higher chances of wooing his way into a job.
The goal of the game is to reach the highest level of success. Success is built from several parameters that include how wealthy you are, how educated, what your job position is, how popular you are, and more. In order to get ahead in the game, you have to invest your resources (energy, money) wisely in actions that will give you good results.
Once you click on a building, you'll see a menu of possible actions in that building, what they cost you, and you can estimate how you'll be rewarded, except sometimes you may be surprised...
While our game mechanism is really simple on the player’s side, we’re building a complicated behind-the-scenes engine that makes no day in Metropoly alike.
One day you can eat a burger at the diner, lose some time and energy for it, and gain some health and happiness points.
The next day you might order the same burger, but find that the waiter didn’t wash his hands properly and—goodbye health and happiness, hello food poisoning!
Watch out - the burger is just the tip of the iceberg!

One of the funnest thing about Metropoly is our social features, that let you engage with your friends or other people, and affect each others’ paths in the game.
1. Making soup to a sick player to get him back up on his feet. 2. After having played lots of social games in the past years and annoying most of our friends, we designed Metropoly with the belief that social features are meant to be fun and integral to the game, rather than a spam tool. You can fully enjoy the town without having a single friend join, except it may be more fun to marry or steal from people you know.
We cooked up a few awards for you to get you started in the best way and make you part of our family.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL - You'll get early access to Metropoly's beta, PLUS a special founders achievement badge.
Contributors who will pledge more will get the Early Bird Special in addition to any of the other awards:

Why do we need the money?
Our small team at Archimadness Games has been working on Metropoly for almost a year now.
We’ve
planned a lot of buildings, possible actions, life-paths and some great
surprises, and we’re very close to completing a full-functioning beta.
We need a few more months of development time to add the social features and our own "God features" (remember that food poisoning?). This is where you come in. With your help, we will be able to complete our beta, add these exciting features to the town, and establish a community of early-adopters (that’s you!) that are invested in the game , enjoying some benefits, and even suggesting more features and ideas.
In the long run, we also plan to extend Metropoly to mobile devices, add even more buildings, and add some new and exciting things we came up with.
