Art, Truth, Love & Human Rights
Ledlight Theatre Company is producing it's first production. Your contribution will help with venue hire, lighting, sound, publicity and hopefully if there is anything left over, for stage design and costumes. We are completely independent and currently funding the project via our day jobs. All members of the company are professionally trained and have and/or are working in the industry in some way or another. We are passionate about creating theatre that examines social issues that effect us globally and personally. We also aim to empower actors, theatre makers and artists to create their own work. Your contribution is vitally important in achieving this. We greatly appreciate any support you can offer.
THE PLAY;
TWO ROOMS, by Lee Blessing.By arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd On Behalf Of Josef Weinberger Ltd. London.It is about love, truth and the human rights associated with political hostages, the media, and governments.
Two Rooms is a drama set during the Lebanese hostage crisis in the 80s. It is the story of two loved ones torn apart by a kidnapping and the attempt to reach out and connect against all odds.The two rooms of the title are a windowless cubicle in Beirut where a hostage from the United States is being held and a room in his home in the USA, which his wife has stripped of furniture in an attempt to share his ordeal.
Lee Blessing is a highly successful, award winning and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award nominated playwright. This play has been performed internationally and we are passionate about this story and bringing it to Australian audiences for the first time!
