Hi, there. My name is Sergio and I am a photographer based in Melbourne. I am very passionate about my craft and I strongly believe that photography should pursue a higher purpose other than shooting scantily clad women just for the sake of it. Don't get me wrong: I love scantily clad women just as the guy next door, but I really want to do much more with my photography. This is why I approached my community in order to develop a photographic project that can make a little difference for someone, somewhere.
What is this project all about?
As a Mexican, I have realized that ours has to be one of the most misunderstood cultures in Australia. Despite the fact that all things Mexican are becoming increasingly popular (especially food), there are still too many misconceptions and myths about us. No, we do not wear sombreros, we do not speak Mexican and certainly Mexico is not part of South America.
With this project I have two main objectives in mind:· To promote Mexican culture, art, gastronomy, values and traditions as well as to give Australians a better understanding of who we are and how we participate and get involved in our community. I also want to help Mexicans living in Victoria to establish an identity as a group, especially those who have arrived to Australia recently.
What is this project all about?

- To do some good in the world and help a good cause! All profits from the sales of this book will be donated to Misión México, a children refuge in Chiapas, México (please click on the link for more information about this refuge). By supporting this project, you will be supporting the work of Alan and Pamela Skuse, an Australian couple running the refuge. Misión México is the home of 40 to 50 children that have suffered poverty and abuse. With the money collected through this project we all will be providing them with food, clothing or anything else they need to have a better future.
What is the money for?
I really need your support in order to pay for the costs of printing and promoting this book. As this is my personal project, I am investing my own resources, including time and money, in shooting the images for the book. However, designing, printing and promoting the book will require additional resources. I am trying to raise $5000 in order to cover these costs and print 300 copies of this book. And this is where you come in. You can also help me by promoting this project on social media.
