INTERWOVEN presents SUNSHADOWS
One part Sydney...one part Botshabelo.
This journey begins in Sydney right now, as we are currently sourcing all the required materials to bring this project to life.
What is the project?
Interwoven is proud to collaborate with Major Raiser to transform not only the Gaelic Club, but to also engage young Australians with a project that will travel 11 278 km's to the community of Botshabelo, Magaliesburg, South Africa.
As part of Major Raiser's Tickets for Tucker event on December 10, 2011, Interwoven will be taking the creative reigns and turning the venue into an oasis of beauty.
Interwoven’s Sunshadows installation will transform The Gaelic Club into a world of colours, lights and shapes inspired by the community of Botshabelo(botshabelo.org). Recycled fabrics and scavenged objects will be used to create a consistent theme throughout the entire downstairs area. Similarly, the stage will be shrouded in layers and shadows cast by foraged treasures. This conveys the idea that discarded items may be reinvented and work together to create something beautiful.

Participants will receive a piece of fabric upon entry which they may weave onto fence-like structures interspersed throughout the ground floor.
In January 2012, we plan to take the materials woven at the Gaelic Club to Botshabelo, where they will be woven into vibrant patterns on local fences. These disused fences will be remade into colourful community landmarks.
So...how will you be helping?
You will be enabling 2 Interwoven artists, to undertake this Journey and facilitate the entire project - From Sydney to Botshabelo.
To bring this project to life, we will need approx. $1.15 per km travelled to reach our destination ($10,000 target). When you think about it like this, it's not such a big scary amount.
How many Km's do you want to contribute?
Interwoven is an incarnation of Token Imagination. A dynamic collection of professional artists with the passion and nous to conceive, develop and produce the most unique events and installations.
We will be replicating the already successful OH ALFRED project undertaken for Art and About 2010 (the award winning village project.)

The funds raised through Pozible will cover all the costs associated with this project (Including facilitation). We will be creating a beautiful atmosphere for the attendees of this event. As well as this we will be increasing the quality of life of those in the community of Botshabelo.
We will also be documenting the entire journey, and will be developing a book compiled of works by the Botshabelo community and the time spent there. This book will be sold, and proceeds from the book will be used to fund various projects in the Botshabelo community.
