HELP AIVDT IN THEIR MOST AMBITIOUS PROJECT EVER...

Life in Miniature is a new contemporary dance work by Perth-based company Anything Is Valid Dance Theatre. AIVDT (Serena Chalker and Quindell Orton) are creating a 35 minute dance theatre work set in a caravan, for an intimate audience of 5 at a time, to be premiered at the Perth Fringe Festival.

The physical restrictions presented by the caravan act as an incubator for tension and to allow the exploration of what can (and often does) occur when two people are living on top of one another for extended periods of time. The performers go from seemingly normal interactions that then progress and morph into what ends up as a surreal, heightened reality, from rolling items off the table to trying to fit one of the performers in the fridge.

This project will be mentored by dramaturge Robyn Tourney, with an original music score by three-time WAMi (Western Australian Music Industry) Award winner Tristan Parr (from Perth bands Schvendes, Fall Electric and member of Decibel Ensemble). AIVDT aims to contribute unexpected performance to innovation in dance and continually developing interesting ways to reach the public in a way that is both intriguing and entertaining. 

PERTH FRINGE SHOWS: January 28-February 17th in the Fringe Hub.  

Future plans include touring to Adelaide Fringe, east coast, regional WA and the European festival circuit.

Two People. One Caravan. Cosy or confining?

The caravan holiday is a great Australian tradition; one that is either endured or embraced. Reflecting on the human experience of spending long periods on the road, interactions become magnified and reality becomes distorted as two friends living out of a caravan try to survive the elements… and each other.

Funny and poignant, this is an engaging work created for an intimate audience that submerses you and invites you to reflect on the scale of the intimate.
