We are 13 self-funded independent WA artists.

We are making Australia's first micro-festival of one-on-one art and we are making it happen in Perth for The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights and Fringe World 2012.

Proximity= 12 artists, 12 audience, 12 spaces, 12 performances, 12 minutes each, 12 times a day.

Earlier this year we held a forum at The Blue Room Theatre and invited lots of artists to dream up ideas and be part of our festival. Over 40 people from different artforms applied - dance, theatre, live-art, music and circus. 

We have now narrowed the program down to an incredible 12 works that involve all kinds of interesting things such as cooking, making punk songs, having showers, going for bike rides, playing strip poker, tap dancing and aerial performance. 

So here we are, on Pozible, like all of the other independent artists out there, trying to get our project costs underwritten and pay for the double time staff we need in order to perform on four glorious Sunday afternoons in Perth!

In January 2012 Perth will be home to Australia’s first micro-festival of one-on-one art Proximity.

Proximity is a chance to get up close and personal with theatre, dance and live-art in a radically intimate way.

Held over four glorious Sunday afternoons during Summer Nights and Fringe World 2012, Proximity will transform every corner of the two-storey Blue Room Theatre building with 12 world premiere performances tailor-made for an audience of one.

Experience a private tap dance, go on a tandem bike ride, join THE UNION Of People Against Very Small Injustices, discover how sweet your life is, test your limits with a game of strip poker, learn how to take a 3-minute shower or help prepare a three-hour slow food banquet in the kitchen.

Each live work is geared towards exploring intimate connections with its viewer through touch, smell, sound and physical proximity.

Due to the one audience member principle of Proximity, tickets are limited to 144 patrons for the public season.
