THE ARTS ISLAND FESTIVAL

We need your support to get The Arts Island Festival on the road!

* This site has been established to raise funds for Agung Gunawan's independent festival which will take place in Bali, Kediri and Batu, June-July 2012.

* All funds raised will go towards travel costs between the festival locations and the cost of staging the festival in each place (technical support and equipment).

* Participating artists get themselves to Indonesia, and donate their time, keeping the festival free for audiences.

***

The Arts Island Festival is a rare and unique opportunity for Indonesian independent contemporary artists to present their work alongside touring international artists. With little funding for the arts available in Indonesia, this festival offers a platform for independent artists to present work and be immersed in festival culture. The drive behind The Arts Island Festival shows the importance of the arts within the community. All artists offer their time pro bono in return for the experience of presenting and touring work. All performances are FREE, encouraging the community to support artistic expression.

THE FESTIVAL

The Arts Island Festival is an artist-led independent initiative, created and directed by dancer Agung Gunawan. Now in its third year, the festival is an opportunity for both local Indonesian artists and International artists to tour their work throughout Indonesia.

The festival showcases artists from different culture backgrounds, with the view of establishing future collaborative relationships. The Arts Island Festival encourages integration of the surrounding environment into the creative process, and aims to push the boundaries of thinking, feeling and experiencing between audiences and performers.
