Nicole Tattersall To London
Every so often an opportunity will arise and you just have to grab hold of it and hope for the best. When I received an email from Brick Lane Gallery in London wanting to show my work I was over the moon. One of my goals with my artwork is to exhibit overseas and here is the perfect opportunity. I am
currently hard at work in the studio creating works now not only for my solo exhibition in August and Duo exhibition in September but also for potentially sending around 16 pieces to London in 2013 to Brick Lane Gallery for a group exhibition.
ABOUT MY ARTWORK
Based in Melbourne, Australia I have been creating works
since 2006 and am most well known for my stencil art and illustration
works. Which lend themselves to convey the context of the piece and
the overall feel of the work through a selection of mixed mediums, from
the innocence and creative minds of two children to the dirty look
created to interpret the streets of a busy city. My style has
changed several times throughout the years from simple outlines to her
now exhibited urban inspired stencil and illustrative works.
The use of stenciling as a technique came about when I wanted to start to customise my own surfboards.
Animal rights, the protection of the environment and the thought of
using ones imagination are reoccurring themes in my works and are
heavily influenced by my time spent at various beaches, surfing, my
family, trips away and Melbourne's urban jungle and world news. Being
passionate about animal rights has lead me to create works for WSPA
Australia to aid in their campaigns and through being an advocate by
talking about the issues.
I've has provided artwork to appear on promotional material to inspire
people to stand up to the slaughter of dolphins in Japan at what many
will know of as 'The Cove'.
Using my Event Management skills I have also has curated and organised a selection of group exhibitions and art events.
SENDING MY WORKS TO LONDON
The pieces I plan to create to send over to Brick Lane Gallery in London, will be of Australian wildlife, in a bid to create a greater awareness of the range and variety of creatures that roam this large country. Sharing with the world what inspires me most about living here. They'll be stencil works derived form my own photography painted on wood paneling, using mediums - watercolour, spray enamel and pencil.
To show art works overseas requires a large amount of passion, hard work, faith and supportive friends and family to help along the way, but also money. Support of my project will assist with the covering the costs associated with shipping the artworks from Australia to London and gallery fees. This exhibition will be the first of what I hope of many more international exhibitions and will assist me in growing my professional development of my artistic practice.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
For those of you who wish to contribute to the success
of sending my artworks to be exhibited in London I have created a list of rewards that I hope you will like. These gifts range from stickers to hand-painted scarfs and t-shirts.
I have set the minimum pledge goal to $2,000 but in
reality this is about a half of the overall costs that I anticipate to incur in creating the works and showing them at Brick Lane Gallery in London.
I plan to regularly update
my supporters on the progress of my works and the exhibition through my Facebook
page, my blog/website, my Pozible page and a monthly email if
requested.
If
you are unable to help financially but are still interested in supporting this project of mine , please spread the word via any
means possible - Facebook, Twitter, Email etc. Any support you can offer
is greatly appreciated and I'll be so very grateful for
your kind help. Feel free to contact me for any more information you need at [email protected]
Thank you so much for your support.
