Style
Through a personalised shooting style (often using wide-angle Hero Go Pro) Dean will give on-the-spot narration and explanations of events, issues and activities. Dean will also utilise the compact ability of the HD Go Pro camera mounted on a remote controlled quad chopper, to shoot spectacular aerial footage of the ocean, including Migaloo 2 and the whales.
The issues covered inSAILING THE WINDS OF CHANGE will be told in a non-intrusive, non-polemic way, simply by revealing stories as they unfold. But there will be no disguising the fact that Dean is an environmental activist looking to uncover issues and find solutions. It will be an exciting adventure with a passionate heart.
There are 5 main techniques used to explore and expose issues -
Visiting affected areas, eg, dredging and pollution sites, shark nets, fish co-ops, cargo ships, coral bleaching, etc.
Talk to experts both locally and via internet links.
Use of archival footage.
Dean reflecting on issues and using his own archival footage.
Using relevant, locally shot and recorded songs and music.
By utilizing spectacular HD images from the air, land, boat and underwater, with a focus on whales and marine wildlife, there will be plenty of time to let the series breath, simply enjoy the visuals and understand why this area is declared a World Heritage wilderness.
Migaloo 2 plans to leave Byron Bay in June/July and sail with the humpback whales during their northern migration up the east coast of Australia to Hervey Bay, the Great Barrier Reef and onto Cairns by the end of November. The fleet will do shows at large ports along the way which will include presenting Films, Talks, Music and Workshops while at the same time exploring and exposing local issues to Media and the huge online audience this journey will attract.Live internet programs will stream regularly, showing the fleets activities, including live music and interviews with the various personalities involved in the flotila and from around the world including information on the issues. The intention is to have a massive social media presence which will include different levels of subscription based interactivity. Video On Demand of relevant docos will be available onsite.

The Flagship of the fleet will be Migaloo 2 a 45 ft fiberglass yacht that was purchased in 2010 with the aim of bringing awareness to whaling and ocean health issues. Skipper, Visionary of the journey is Dean Jefferys, long time activist, multi media practitioner and documentary filmmaker.
The culmination of the journey will be experiencing and live streaming the Total Solar Eclipse near Cairns on November the 21st 2012 with thousands of other revelers. It is likely that with the huge following that will have been generated over the 5 month journey there will be a continuation of live streaming programming and online interactivity.
