Kai Smythe and Tim Mager are an action adventure comedy duo that resides in the town of Melbourne, Australia. Their last show “In Search Of Atlantis” a musical about two Australian explorers from the early 1900’s who try to find lost city was a critically acclaimed, landing them rave reviews, an award for best emerging cabaret at the Melbourne fringe festival 2009 and a nomination for best cabaret at the Adelaide fringe festival 2010.
Now starting work on their next show “The Road To Shangri La”, Mager and Smythe decided it was time to put their money where their mouth is “so to speak” and travel to the countries in which the show has been set to write the show on the actual trail of their story.
Starting in the craggy Limestone mountains of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam and ending up in he peaks of the Himalayas in Nepal, these two unlikely explorers will learn about the local history and music styles to incorporate in their show whilst trying not to get killed by the Animals, places, and people on their perilous journey.
On the way, Mager and Smythe will film themselves and their every clumsy move in a “fly on the wall” observational style documentary that will have the audience feeling like they are with them on their hapless quest to find the infamous city of Shangri La.
The money raised will fund their amazing, perilous journey.
