Blind Date at Brisbane Festival
Update (20/8/2012): WE DID IT! We successfully reached our target of $1,000 in under a week, and we are so grateful to those people that helped us cross the line. We're now hoping to make it to at least $1,600 which represents the real costs of travelling to Brisbane for the show. If you're reading this and you haven't yet supported our campaign but would like to consider, please read the following...
About This Campaign
Big One Little One is an emerging live collective based in Melbourne, Adelaide and Newcastle. We have been invited to present our Green Room Award nominated work, Blind Date, at Brisbane Festival’s Under the Radar in September 2012. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the work to Brisbane audiences, following sell-out seasons in Melbourne and Newcastle, and a specially commissioned one-night-only edition at Adelaide Festival’s Barrio. In an exciting development, the season has already sold out entirely!
Brisbane Festival is providing us with a fee in order for the key artists to be paid, but we still need to cover the cost of sending the artists to Brisbane from Melbourne and Adelaide, and paying for their accommodation and per diems while in town. We’ve already managed to raise a small amount to contribute to these costs, thanks to the generosity of supporters from previous fundraising campaigns, but we still need to fill the gap.
We’ll still be presenting this work at Brisbane Festival in one month, regardless of whether this campaign is successful – but in order to make it a truly satisfying experience for the creative team while they’re there, we’re asking for your help. We only want to make the target we’ve set – no more, no less. Are you able to help?
About Blind Date
Trust a stranger and lose yourself in a unique one-on-one experience…
Created by Big One Little One, participants are placed at the centre of a unique creative process where they are blindfolded and led by their ‘date’ on a sensory journey of discovery through the streets, parks and alleys within the heart of Brisbane. Fresh from seasons in Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide Festivals, the Green Room Award nominated performance will take to the streets of Brisbane for the first time.
