Journey is our quarterly journal of bicycle adventures - big and small, planned and spontaneous. Journey is about the little things that define adventure - the unexpected experiences, opportunities for reflection, and sheer unadulterated fun. Journey is about regular people taking leave from routine and stepping out into a brave new world. People who have discovered (or want to discover) a taste for bicycle adventure. People like you.

Journey #1 is published on 5 March 2013. It will be filled with beautiful, evocative images and passionate, involving writing. It will be printed on thick, recycled, uncoated paper. It will have no advertising interrupting the editorial flow. We hope it will be a journal that becomes lovingly tattered and worn from repeat viewings - repeated searches for adventure inspiration.

REDISCOVER ADVENTURE

We are bicycle riders and adventurers. Our mission is to inspire and empower bicycle riders and would-be bicycle riders to set out on adventures of their own. 

When we were kids, life was about discovery - extending the boundaries of our little world. We were inseparable from our bikes, they were our independence. Life was a great adventure. The wind was in our hair and blew tears into our eyes.

We think that our childhood sense of adventure has been misplaced. As we grew up, bikes were replaced by cars, and our play time got filled with the responsibilities of adult life. We believe that everyone needs a little adventure to enrich their lives. And we think that the bicycle - that introduced us to adventure - can bring it back to us now.

WITHIN THE PAGES

Adventure is an attitude. It is the acceptance of a little risk. It is a willingness to break out of routine, to step out of our comfort zone.  Our goal is to inspire bicycle adventures of all kinds. Adventure doesn't just mean riding around the world unsupported. Journey is about accessible bicycle adventures. Each article will keep this firmly in mind:

We'll investigate how seasoned cyclists can add a little adventure into their regular riding.
We'll discover how new riders are using their bicycles to see their locale through fresh eyes.
We'll watch a bicycle turn a commute from a workday chore into an early morning adventure.
We'll mix cycling with wine with sightseeing with cafes with picnics with warm summer days.
We'll get under the skin of solo riders leaving mobile phone reception far behind.
We'll join the fun of group rides and weekends away.
We'll learn how families are bonding on bicycle rides and tours.
We'll disappear deep into the New Zealand bush, popping out somewhere on the other side.
We'll hear from overseas adventurers and listen to how they keep life on the bike exciting.
