Thank you all so much for supporting the Maurice Frawley doco! After 4 days we have reached our initial target and still counting!!!! Its amazing to see everyone chip in, from the smallest to the tallest it all helps significantly. Even after we have reached the target set of $2000 it would be great to raise at least another $1300 to cover the rest of licensing costs and more, including colour grading and possibly a DVD release. If you are able to still help and/or pass the word around about this film, you are an amazing person and it is truly appreciated - by not just the filmmakers, but by anyone who knew Maurice and want to see and share his story. Thank you all again and again, it really is a remarkable achievement and an honour to be a part of.

Reubin Williams, Dianne Purnell, and Jim Elson are currently making a film about Australian musician and songwriter Maurice Frawley. Born in country Victoria, Maurice was a musician heralded by his peers for his poetic and poignant lyrics, and highly regarded by younger generations for his generosity and encouragement towards their music. After a short battle, Maurice passed away in May 2009.

A long time family friend of Reubin, the project is a tribute to a friend and mentor, as well as being based around 'Long Gone Whistle' - a tribute album produced by Paul Kelly and Charlie Owen, showcasing many of Maurice's songs performed by well known Australian musicians

The film features interviews with musicians such as Charlie Owen, Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Kasey Chambers, Claire Bowditch and many more. All have shown outstanding support and understanding towards the project, as many have been directly influenced by Maurice's guidance and music.

The work is currently in the final stages of editing and we are looking at purchasing the rights for music to use within the documentary and have been quoted over $3000. The film has been accepted into the St Kilda Film Festival and is to be shown in 2011 as a part of the top 100. Adding money from our own pockets, we aim to raise further funds of at least $2000 to cover the cost of licensing fees alone and feel the songs we have chosen are a vital part of telling the story. We feel the screening at St Kilda Film Festival would not be the same with out them.

We are seeking assistance from those who would love to see his story told and give recognition to his songwriting. A man who had a profound effect on many young musicians, this would be an opportunity for his peers, family and fellow musicians to show their support and contribute to the story of an Australian song writing great. Any contribution will go a long way and greatly appreciated.
