THE STORY

Ravi & Jane is a heart warming short film which tells the story of two class mates who strike up a budding friendship.  A shy 10 year old, Ravi, has just moved to Australia from his native land of Sri Lanka. On his first day in a new school, he is befriended by Jane. Whilst their lives are worlds apart, the two are inseparable until circumstances beyond their control divide them.

THE CAST

After an extensive audition process we have decided upon two very talented newcomers, Sathyan Ilanko & Katya Harvey, to play Ravi & Jane. We are also very privileged to have Matilda Brown on board in the role of MISS CLARKE, the primary school teacher who possesses the characteristics that all teachers should - being passionate about her job, and compassionate towards her students.

THE PRODUCTION TEAM

Ravi & Jane is being directed by Stuart O'Rourke. Recently, Stuart was the Cinematographer for the short drama JULIAN (winner of the Crystal Bear at Berlinale & the 2013 AACTA Award for Best Short Film) which was produced by YEAR OF THE RABBIT FILMS and directed by Matthew Moore.

Stuart has recently completed work as cinematographer on two other short films BLIND MAN and ANDERSON BABCOCK.

The producer of Ravi & Jane is Leah James. With a background in feature film distribution and having worked on major hollywood blockbusters, Leah has now turned her eye to producing beautiful and important stories. Leah and Stuart worked together in 2012 on ANDERSON BABCOCK and are excited to work together again on RAVI & JANE.

We are very excited to be working with an amazing production team comprising of DOP Daniel Foeldes (CARGO), 1st Assistant Director Steven Kirkby, Production Designer Adam Grubner, Line Producer Katie Amos, and Co-Producer Caroline Campbell.
