Early 2013 is going to be an exciting time for me as an emerging artist. Not only will I be beginning my studies at James Cook University here in Cairns but I will also have my first two solo exhibitions. Together, they will allow me to showcase my photography, digital and mixed media art. To help cover the costs of installation and openings I've created this campaign which I hope you will find worthy of supporting.
The exhibitions will be as follows:

C.1907 Contemporary Art Space
Vivlio showcases my journey with digital photography so far. The images in this collection span 6 years and 7 cities beginning in 2006. Featuring portrait, abstract, architecture and still life photography, it is a collection of some of my best images from my first self-published book which inspired the exhibition. It features many firsts and experiments for me as well as work created with The Hub (Portrait Photography Group), an Artist Run Initiative that I ran during 2011/12.
I'm proud of and grateful to have this as my first solo exhibition for it was photography that has led me to becoming an artist.
During this exhibition I will also be holding a small free workshop for artists called; 'Introduction To Self-Publishing'. If you are interested in taking part, please follow the link below for more details and to register your interest.

Exhibition 2:
In late 2011 I began a series of experimental works blending my love of photography and digital art with more traditional mixed media. Using materials such as wood, glass, plastic, and acrylic glazing, I have continued to evolve these experiments into more refined artworks and in turn have begun an ongoing series of works that explore emotions and the human condition. As the art space is 'View Only' I will also be producing a companion website that can be accessed by the passerby with a NFC or QR Code scanner. This will allow them to interact with the exhibition in a way that they wouldn't have access to normally.

As not all the art is complete and it will have to be in the exhibition, you'll need to wait until early May to receive it but you'll have the chance to make sure your favourite piece is not sold to someone else. Selection of artworks will be available in late March and preference of choice given in order of pledges received.

Why run a campaign and what costs will this campaign cover?
Openings are an integral part of an artist's toolbox at their disposal to get themselves and their art noticed. The sober truth is that it may be a while before an emerging artist begins to sell their work but holding these shows have enormous value in establishing themselves as practicing artists.
As it stands I can cover the costs of the openings (just, phew!) But as crowdfunding exists, I see it is a chance to incorporate the work involved in creating/running the campaign and making the rewards with putting together the exhibition so that I may take some of the financial strain off of the process. It's not intended to get a free ride as it is extra work on top of that of the exhibitions but if successful in my campaign, I feel it is worth it.
Your pledge is broken into two parts, the cost of making and posting the reward and what's left over which is what will go towards the openings. I have put a modest funding goal of $200 as it is what I reasonably expect to raise by the time this campaign ends, but that only goes part-way to covering all the costs involved which will be approximately $1150 all up.
