'A Kid, a Camera & a Big Idea: The Complete Guide to Movie Making for Kids' is a book and DVD set for 9-13 year olds, due for release on April 13th, 2014.
The book is a step by step guide to making movies and will teach kids everything they need to know to write, produce and star in their own films - even if their only resources are a camera phone and a big imagination!
Alongside the book comes a 2 hour companion DVD, which visually shows children how to carry out the techniques from the book. It's a hilariously entertaining DVD which will have kids laughing their heads off while they learn.
This project was created by me, Claire Dicarlo, and brought to life with the help of these 6 amazing young kids:

Breakdown of Rewards!
We've worked really hard to create rewards that you will absolutely LOVE, and we appreciate your support immensely. Please ask if you have any questions about them whatsoever!
Both the $35 and $75 rewards can be donated to Camp Quality if you wish, and will be given to a child affected by cancer.

Sneak Peeks!
As this campaign unfolds, we'll be gradually releasing sneak peeks and teasers of both the book and DVD. Make sure to keep checking back for updates!

How The Funds Will Be Used
Our initial funding goal is $6000.
This will be used to cover the first payment we're required to make to our printer, as well as their shipping, GST (Australian business tax), and warehousing costs to store and fulfil the orders for the book. We're initially printing 1000 copies, and will print more should we sell out!
This goal will also cover the $1000 it costs to hire our venue for the launch party! Because who wants to launch a book and not throw a big party for all the kids involved?! We'll just have enough to cover the other costs of this launch, but the venue hire itself is the biggest expense, and something we need the most support with.
We also have 3 'Stretch Goals', which will also help immensely with getting this project complete.
If we raise $10,000, that will assist in covering the 2nd instalment we need to make to the printer - and $14,000 will cover the printing altogether!
Our 'Dream Big' target is $24,000 - this would help cover the costs we still have outstanding for DVD editing, grading and mastering. This stuff takes a long time, and isn't cheap!

The Challenges
The main challenge for us is reaching our initial funding goal. The project is already complete and we are in love with the finished product - we just need to ensure the printing and cinema costs can be covered, in order to launch with a bang in April.
If we don't reach this target (along with our stretch goals), the book will still be launched as planned, however we'll need to go into a bit of debt to get it there. So the stretch goals would be a lifesaver in terms of us not having to go down that path!!

I WANT A WORKSHOP! Well, this reward is really something special! As well as receiving a copy of the book and DVD, your child will also enjoy a tour of 'Stupid Old Studios' - the Melbourne studio where the DVD was filmed.
