Project Y: Australian Youth Dance Film Project
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The youth of today would like your attention – A unique opportunity of storytelling through the hearts , minds and creative movement of a group of young people dealing with the major issues of bullying, self image, suicide – topics defined by them. This short film will be delivered as a mainstream screening (Village Roadshow Rivoli Cinemas in Camberwell), through short film festivals internationally and ultimately through schools and channels that directly link to youth – Vimeo, Youtube, Facebook, etc. Its key goal is to generate communication, discussion and become a catalyst for positive changes by individuals and communities. Deliver a message that no matter what is going on "you are not alone".
SYNOPSIS
A school community is shocked, confronted and ultimately brought together by cataclysmic event. This event creates personal introspection within the members of the group and brings to the surface the inner turmoils that each individual faces.
Project Y The Movie (working title) explores, through contemporary dance many issues that confront youth today. Based on in depth workshops with a cast of thirty 12 to 22 year old artists. This film is an honest, raw and an emotive exploration of key issues - as defined by them; bullying, body image, expectation, drugs, loss and hope.
This project is very close to all our hearts and we want to do it justice by creating the highest quality project possible. Therefore we need to raise some important funds to allow us to have the best on location equipment; lights, rigging, specialist operators etc.
250 supporters pledge $20 each, we'll hit our dream target!
We’ve set our Pozible goal at $5,000 because we want to make sure we reach it (if we don't hit our Pozible goal, we don't get any money!).
You can pledge a small amount in return for rewards like public thank you and posters or you can donate more and with a larger donation even become one of our Associate Producers.

THE TEAM
DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER – Paul Malek
PRODUCERS – Chris Curran & Katherine Armstrong
GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS:
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY - Joanne Beckwith
Joanne loves the collaboration, diversity of skills and creativity that cinematography requires. From contained documentary unit through to the feature film environment she is in her element behind the lens and loves how each element informs the other. Each and every job comes with it’s own set of parameters, not many people can say they have worked the altitudes of the Himalayas, aerials over the Golden Gate Bridge to supermarket wrangling with three children.
