I live on a boat. 
This fact led me to write Mr Tripp buys a lifestyle. This humorous novel is about a hapless couple who buy a boat for the first time.
Colin and Vivian Tripp buy a 'bargain' cement boat called Moonlighting with a romantic idea of the sea. Balmy nights, sundowners on the deck, midnight swims in tropical waters around North Queensland, it all seems so romantic.
What they get is a bucket load of troubles, a myriad of mishaps - plus some fun.
From the intricacies of anchoring to taming sea sickness, they weather the storms to eventually find a joie de vivre, albeit with the aid of an assortment of characters, who all seem to be experts about something.
To make this novel a complete package it could do with six cartoons depicting some humorous moments in the book.

How The Funds Will Be Used
This is a caricature of me done by Jo. I hope to employ the fabulous cartoonist/illustrator Jo Brooker to draw six funny little cartoons for Mr Tripp buys a lifestyle. Each cartoon will cost $100. What is the other $400 for? Well, I hope to buy some prints of the cartoons and then offer them as pledge rewards.

The Challenges
The only problem I foresee is that I don't get to purchase six cartoons for the novel. In that case I will have to submit to publishers without that little bit extra. Getting a publisher interested is a long drawn out process and a lot of luck. Submitting to publishing houses takes time, but I am confident that Mr. Tripp buys a lifestyle will hit the hustings in 2014...sometime. And when it does my supporters will be the first to know. I just have to jump through a few hoops.
