The successful Bentley Blockade against the invasion of unconventional gas mining in the NR region has united and inspired people locally, nationally and throughout the world.

People can stand together and resist through non-violent action the destruction of our natural world for short-term corporate profits that have corrupted our democratic process.

The social movement that manifest as Camp Liberty and the Bentley Blockade is a creative and inspired community from all walks of life. With many singer songwriters and musicians in their number, many new songs of inspiration, awareness and hope have been written for and at the Bentley Blockade.

To help celebrate and promote this history making event a compilation album of songs written and performed by Bentley Protectors is planned. This project will both archive and publish some of the creative output of this paradigm-shifting event, spreading the inspirational story of the Bentley Blockade against toxic fossil fuels to communities and campaigns throughout Australia and the world.

The songs on this CD were important for the cohesion of the people of the Bentley Blockade and continuing anti-CSG actions. They tell the story of the blockade and were written around the fire, at the chai tent at Gate A, in camp ‘Liberty’?, at jams around Gate B and other places around Bentley celebrating life and the unified vision for protecting the land and waters.

Growing the repertoire of resistance and building the chorus for change!

Hand In Hand is a composition by Chris Fisher, written after attending a dawn vigil at the blockade site in late March. Through April and May this song was performed many times at Bentley and became a part of the growing repertoire of resistance manifesting at the blockade. During this time this song was also recorded at Bush Rock Studios, Goonellabah, with many Camp Liberty musicians and singers contributing to the production. This recording is now complete and presented here as an example of  what's to come on the album. Hear it :)

Inspired conversations at sunrise between bleary-eyed musicians precipitated the ‘Songs of the Bentley Blockade’ album project.

A budget to cover recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, manufacture and distribution internationally has been drafted based on including 12 -14 tracks on a cd album. Recording will take place at Bush Rock Studio’s Goonellabah, mixing by Yum Digital (Dave Highet) and mastering at Soundworthy studios, ensuring top production values.

Arrangements will feature musicians and singers all actively involved in the Bentley Blockade and sharing their creative energies for a gas field and fossil fuel free tomorrow. Many of the artists and musicians have professional careers in the music industry.

Artwork for the cd will likewise feature the creative work of the Bentley Blockade community/movement.
The budget sort to print 1000 cd’s of a 12 track album is $7670, that’s 256 people pledging $30.00 and being rewarded with a cd delivered world wide. Funds raised in excess of this amount will be used to bigger and better the project, including more songs/artists, distributing more cd’s to radio and other media, and providing more cd’s for fund raising to Lock the Gate and other organisations formed to oppose unconventional gas mining and toxic fossil fuel industries.

Help create sustainable economy through creative cultural enterprise!
