In late 2013 we launched a Pozible campaign to fund Journey volume one. It was successful. Three more quarterly volumes followed in 2014. Then we went quiet.
Now we have Journey volume five ready to go to print, and we need your help to make it happen.

What is Journey?
Journey is an infrequently printed collection of adventures on bicycles. In Journey, adventure could mean a full-scale tour of a wild and remote place, a lightweight overnight bikepacking trip, riding new trails with new people, families learning to ride together, or someone discovering something new on their way home. Adventure is just a frame of mind: a willingness to try something new, to push beyond the usual comfort zone. If Journey captures the wide-eyed sense of fun, fear and freedom we got from riding bikes as kids, and inspires others to try to (re)discover that feeling, then we have been successful.
Volume five of Journey is currently 120 pages and counting. It is printed in New Zealand on recycled FSC certified papers. The content is uninterrupted by ads, and we leave space for our words, images and illustrations to breathe. Every copy is numbered by hand and delivered in a custom box to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition. You could say that Journey is a response to the clutter, product-based content, and disposable nature of the usual cycling press.
From volume five we'll print Journey infrequently - we aim to make it bi-annual. We'll crowdfund every issue, printing as many as we need plus a few to sell through our website, plus a few more to distribute through the sort of book and bike shops we like to spend time in.

How The Funds Will Be Used
All of the funds received go to printing Journey, producing the extra rewards, and posting it all out to you. The target amount doesn't cover the entire print cost - it's about half of the minimum we need. We cover the rest through sales of Journey through stores and our website, and contributions from our partners, who support us by placing ads inside the front and back covers and on our website.
Journey isn't packed with adverts, we work with a few partners who have similar philosophies to us, but it is mostly funded through sales. We are a not-for-profit company and do this solely for the love and glory. We are still waiting for the glory.

The Challenges
Journey volume five is almost ready to go. There are a few articles to edit, illustrations to create, and some layout and design to complete. But we've been here before with four previous volumes, so we know what we have got ourselves in to.
Journey volume five will be printed, regardless of how many we sell through this Pozible campaign. We've set our fundraising target at a realistic level. Of course, we'd love to get enough backers here to make it viable and cover costs. But if we reach the target we will still print, and just do all that we can to make up the numbers to cover the print and distribution costs. If we get more backers than expected, we'll just print more copies.
