My name is Tao Bak, I am a singer/songwriter currently recording a new album.   

In the 1990s I was guitarist with indie-pop band Alto Avenue, and more recently I recorded a home studio album ‘Songs of Us: Ten Years” as a gift to my wife. Last year I started recording songs for my first professionally recorded solo project.

I have a bunch of new songs, most of which have been arranged with the help of musician friends that have generously agreed to lend their fantastic musical talent to the project: Melchior Martin (guitar, vocals), Greg Martin (bass, vocals) , Michaela Tory (violin, vocals) and Fred Planchenault (guitar). Melchior has also lent his support by agreeing to produce the album.  



Whilst the songs have their own character, I’m excited about the unique sound that has emerged as we have worked up the songs and performed them live, where we’ve received positive feedback and strong encouragement to record them.

The fund target set is one that will enable me to see this project to reality, with the quality of sound I aim striving for, within a time frame that is workable for me and for the musicians involved.

As these funds represent the bare minimum required, any funds additional to the target will be used to either include additional tracks or instrumentation to the album.

Any form of support is very much appreciated, particularly the sharing of my project through social media, or by other means. 

The target is not the overall cost of the project but will go towards some extended studio sessions, as well as mixing and mastering, that will enable me to finish the album. Any funds additional to the target will be used to either include additional  tracks or instrumentation for some of the songs.

The main obstacle I can foresee for this project is that the songs with more intricate arrangements may take longer to record than anticipated. My plan for dealing with this is prioritising and being prepared to compromise with simpler arrangements for some of the songs and/or including less songs on the album.
