On November 19 2014, a US Drone operating outside a declared war, in Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, reportedly assassinated two Australian citizens by firing missiles at them.

Journalists were able to uncover some documents through FOI requests, which are published at the end of this news report:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-06-03/family-deman...

I requested DFAT disclose all documents relating to the deaths of the two Australians in Yemen. DFAT knocked back the request because they have over 800 pages on this subject! I asked then for only documents sent to/from the Australian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, which covers Australians in Yemen. They have 75 documents which they claim consist mostly of personal information.

DFAT identified 3 documents sent to / from the Embassy in Saudi Arabia, comprising 8 pages.

How The Funds Will Be Used

If raised, the $30 will pay the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to process the FOI request for the three documents (8 pages). DFAT may or may not release the documents.

Here's my emails with DFAT so far:

The Challenges

DFAT may heavily redact the documents. Any release, though, will add to the scant public record on this issue.
