THE PROBLEM
There are thousands of charities – how do you know which one to support?
How do you know where your money’s going?
I don’t have enough time to find out what’s out there, let alone whether they’re legit.
I’m not a millionaire so how can I make a difference?
THE 10 X 10 SOLUTION
10 x 10 is a scalable platform that provide a unique and social forum for young professionals and creatives to give to emerging charities whose causes resonate with them. It also helps to engender a culture of giving and philanthropy within our communities.
THIS 10 x 10 EVENT
Join us on Thursday 23 April 2015 at Wooloomooloo Bay Hotel, 2 Bourke St, Wooloomooloo, NSW 2011
6:00pm - 8:30pm
Drinks & canapés from 6:30pm. Speakers begin at 7:00pm
HOW IT WORKS
1) Each event showcases three emerging local charities, carefully chosen as organisations creating solutions to complex social issues in our communities.
2) Supported by the 10x10 founders, each event is planned and hosted by a fresh committee of 10. Each committee member hosts 10 guests at the event, bringing together over 100 people who each contribute $100 or more, raising $10,000 at least!
3) Each charity has five minutes to pitch in the style of the popular UK television show "The Dragon’s Den" and are then questioned by a special guest Dragon about their cause and business model.
4) The amount you donate through Pozible in advance is turned into vouchers for 'Charity Dollars' in increments of $50. After hearing the pitches, you choose the organisations you most want to support. Many people want to support all three charities so they contribute $150 or more.
5) All costs of each event are covered by event sponsors, to ensure that ALL funds raised on the night go directly to the three charities.

OUR GUEST 'DRAGON'
One of very few people to work directly for Bill Gates, and one of Australia’s most well-known technology investors, Daniel Petre AO businessman and philanthropist, will be acting as the Dragon for this 10 x 10 instalment.
Daniel has been heavily involved in Australian philanthropy with his establishment of the Petre Foundation in 1999 which has provided donations to a range of worthy causes. He has been a director of a number of not for profit organizations over the last 15 years, currently a director of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Sydney Theatre Company.
As the 10 x 10 Dragon he’ll interrogate each of the charities on their proposals and business models, helping the audience to decide where their donations should go based on whose pitches or cause inspire them the most

THE CHARITIES
10x10 is really excited to be working with three fantastic charities for the event on 23 April 2015:

Good360 works with companies, charities and individuals to make the business of giving simpler, more efficient and more effective. Our innovative marketplace platform — GivingPlace, brings non-profits, companies and individual supporters together in a ‘Circle of Good’, allowing them to work together and do good better, more quickly and efficiently than ever before.
Through Good360’s Wishlists, non-profits are able to tell companies and individuals exactly what they need most – and those wishes can be fulfilled with just a few clicks.
Want to ensure you make a real impact? We’ve got you covered. With our Impact Story reporting tool, non-profits are able to tell donors – both companies and individuals – exactly how their Wishlist donations made an impact. You can even see video and pictures from the communities you support.

Top Blokes Foundation is a NSW based, boys health organisation that tackles the anti-social and risk-taking behaviours of at-risk and disadvantaged young men aged 14-24. They believe that we can all encourage young men to be assets, not liabilities to our country.
The Top Blokes Foundation challenges and empowers over 1000 young men aged 14-24 each year to reach their personal best and make positive life choices through their school-mentoring, community volunteering and suicide prevention programs. They’re passionate about providing a positive platform for young men to develop personal qualities including integrity, character and respect for others while becoming positive role models to their peers.

Gig Buddies Sydney provides support to enable Australians living with learning disabilities to access and enjoy Australia's live music and festival culture, particularly evening social activities such as gigs, clubbing or theatre. The project aims to address the social isolation faced by many people with learning disabilities, by linking adults who have a learning disability to a volunteer in their community who has similar interests in music, or other activities, to go out together.

This event is in association with Philanthropy Australia's New Generation of Giving program and inspired by collective giving groups around the world like The Funding Network, The Awesome Foundation, and TiPoint Community.
Your ‘buy-in’ to come along is a donation of $100 or more. You pre-pay this on Pozible, one of Australia’s leading crowdfunding websites, and get a confirmation of your contribution. The pooled funds are held securely by Pozible.
ALL of the pooled funds will then be distributed to the charities based on the tallied up contributions.
