At the end of 2014, I approached my brother's A Capella quartet 'Now In Stereo', and pitched to them an idea that would eventually become a lot bigger than expected; to put on an original musical that used A Capella arrangements of 70's and 80's pop hits, sung live on stage. This idea was developed into 'Counting Bars: The Tale of the Singing Inmates'. At the 2015 Adelaide Fringe Festival, 'Counting Bars' premiered to a sold out season, and in 2016, returned for a suburban tour to local audiences around Adelaide with the 'Out of the Square' program.

Throughout both seasons, audiences were asking if we had a CD or cast recordings that they could purchase and listen to. So it was decided after our second season that we would go into production for the 'Counting Bars: Official Cast Recording'. From 2016 onwards, 'Counting Bars' is being developed into a larger scale show, taking the initial script and turning it into a full scale production. And, with the help of the official cast recording as merchandise, the funds will help the production along financially.

The main challenges that we can foresee with this project is executing the tracking in the allocated amount of time, and to have the mixing completed before April, to coincide with the plans for artwork and duplication.. As MKM is employing the cast as contracted singers, they need to record within the time allocated to them. As a precaution, the cast have already started the tracking process whilst this campaign is being run.
