zin has been accepted to the Underbelly Arts Lab and Festival 2013! Woo awesome yay great times! And as if that wasn’t already cool enough, we've also been selected to take part in a matched crowd funding campaign where every dollar raised up to our target will be matched by the amazing Keir Foundation. Which means for every dollar you give, it's like you're giving us two!
- HERE'S WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO
We are going to throw a massive party. We can’t tell you too much because we don’t want to ruin the surprise. What we can tell you is that we’re working with a talented group of artists and experimentalists to explore exciting immersive possibilities. We’re making work that will impact and engage with audiences in a very real way. We are developing a creative process that engages politics and activism, encourages an active audience, blurs the lines between the real world and the constructed party utopia and one that traverses all sorts of art forms. It’s going to be epic, exciting, shocking, provocative, mind blowing and down right the funnest thing ever.
- ABOUT THE FUNDING
We are absolutely astounded at the support zin's PARTY MODE has received so far, having reached our $2500 target within three days! And thanks to matched funding from the Keir Foundation and the help of the Underbelly Arts Festival we can assure you we'll be able to execute the project! Yay!
BUT THERE ARE STILL PLENTY OF REASONS TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT. We're now seeking further funding contributions to make this experience even better.

- ABOUT THE PROJECT
During the Underbelly Arts Lab, we’re going to live and breath this creative dream for two weeks, devising and building from scratch a multifaceted party world where all elements of the experience are thoroughly considered, collaborated upon and tested. We’ll be running tests on peers and Lab attendees too, so that we know exactly what will work when the big day arrives.As a supporter of the project you'll be the first to know how the project is developing, and be invited to take part in all aspects of the Lab.
During the Underbelly Arts Festival we’re going to throw a massive party that will run for approximately 3 hours. This is where you come in. This is where you, the audience completes the vision, by being there, by engaging, by having the best time of your life! PARTY BOOM! During the Festival we’ll also run a series of related one-on-one interactions, presenting new methodologies and samples of the work that we’ve developed throughout the Lab.
- ABOUT ZIN
zin is a live art partnership founded and directed by Roslyn Helper and Harriet Gillies. Our work focuses on the power of experience and combines immersive, visceral and hybrid-art elements. We seek to challenge traditional, performance-based practice and in doing so, to transform audiences' experience of art. We believe the audience is paramount in the conception and creation of all work.
zin has created audience-interactive works for the Verge Arts Festival, High and Dry Festival, Peats Ridge Festival, Oxford Art Factory, the City of Darwin’s National Youth Week program and Theatre Works’ Encounter(s) Festival in Melbourne, and has an upcoming residency at Metro Arts in Brisbane. Harriet and Roslyn are also 2013 recipients of the Australia Council’s JUMP Mentorship grant, and are developing their professional and creative practice under the guidance of Fiona Winning, Head of Programming at Sydney Festival. BUT ALSO JUST LOOK AT US, WE ARE TOTAL PARTY ANIMALS.

Underbelly Arts exists to uncover Australia’s next great artists.
Since 2007 the Underbelly Arts Lab has provided opportunities for more than 600 artists to develop and create in a unique and supported environment where, over two weeks, audiences are invited to watch art unfold and take part in the process.
In 2013 Underbelly Arts is once again taking over Cockatoo Island and giving artists the chance to create and respond in one of Australia’s magnificent settings. These works will then be showcased as part of the Underbelly Arts Festival, a two-day art party that celebrates process, new ideas and the best emerging and experimental artists across Australia.
