Dandelion Wine have been booked to play at some truly awesome festivals and events in Europe this August and September... the only catch is that there's an airfare-sized hole in the budget, which is why we're turning to you for help!
We are a medieval/electro/triphop/whatever duo from Melbourne, Australia. Over the last ten years we have been regularly touring Europe (as well as Australia and Japan) and we've built things up to the point where we can score prestigious slots on great festivals. In the past we've played everything from galleries to tiny bars, clubs to castles, outdoor festivals to private parties... This time we've been offered some really special shows...
WHERE WE ARE GOING
Festival Mediaval - Selb, Germany
The largest medieval festival in the world! We are extremely pleased to be playing alongside bands such as Faun, Valravn, Corvus Corax etc and we're especially chuffed to be on the main stage on Saturday afternoon. Also, Selb is right on the Czech border so it's simple for our listeners in Prague to come too.
Bruchtal Festibal - Vättis, Switzerland
What can be better than a Tolkien-inspired medieval/fantasy festival so high in a remote corner of the Swiss Alps that you actually feel like you are in the Misty Mountains.
Rakvere, Estonia
Following on from our Estonian debut last year, the organisers of the Darkland Fire Festival have a special show in mind for August 31st... they will be announcing details soon so we better keep quiet until then, but it'll be something pretty special!
Plus additional club shows in GERMANY, POLAND and maybe even a sneaky trip to FRANCE!
WHAT WE ARE NEEDING
$5,500 for airfares and instrument freight from Australia to Europe.
SO IF YOU ARE PLAYING ALL THESE SHOWS WHY DO YOU NEED EXTRA MONEY? SURELY YOU'RE GETTING PAID?
Most of the other bands on these bills have driven for a few hours or maybe a day - the haven't had to fly from the other side of the world. Unfortunately, the cost of flying us and instruments (dulcimer, bell cittern, electronics etc) is huge and our performance fees won't cover that. So basically, all the money we earn on this tour will go into keeping us afloat on tour (paying for internal flights, car hire, hotels, food, the insane price of fuel, etc) and won't even the scratch the surface of airfares.
WHAT IF WE GET MORE THAN OUR TARGET
If this happens we get to implement our secondary plan of making a series of acoustic location recordings of Dandelion Wine songs in various natural and historic settings around the world for an upcoming acoustic album. Everyone knows castles are our favourite things in the world and to record in a couple would be a perfect match for our songs and instruments (and Kryal just doesn't cut it!). Any additional money will go into making this a reality.
