Support a series of public talks presented alongside 'The Financial Report' exhibition.

'The Financial Report', a group exhibition curated by Mark Feary, brings together a selection of works by international and Australian artists to examine the complexities of contemporary financial systems and how these systems impact artists and artwork production.

The exhibition takes form as a selective survey of artworks in which artists draw attention to and undermine the ubiquity of their, and implicitly, our involvement in capitalist systems. Within some of the projects the artists propose questions surrounding the ethics of contemporary art and the markets that form around and in support of it. The project looks to not only the art markets of Europe and North America but also the specific context of Australasia and what it means to participate in a cultural field that largely precludes its producers from financial security.

Artists in the exhibition include: Denis Beaubois (NSW), Melanie Gilligan (Canada/USA), Matthew Griffin (VIC/Brazil), Christian Jankowski (Germany), Andrew Liversidge (VIC), Dane Mitchell (NZ), Natalie Thomas (VIC).

Make a donation (no matter how small) to support the execution of a program of public talks presented in conjunction with the Artspace group exhibition 'The Financial Report'. This series of public talks will be presented throughout the month of September as a contextualising framework for 'The Financial Report' exhibition as a whole. We’ve approached this relatively new fundraising platform as a further investigation into the often symbiotic and chaotic relationship between money and art. 'The Financial Report' public program of talks will tease out the complex ideas behind the exhibition by engaging in a critical dialogue supported through a range of voices including: Dr Henry Ergas (Senior Economic Adviser at Deloitte Access Economics and Professor of Infrastructure Economics at SMART, University of Wollongong); Peter Wilson (Principal, Greenhill & Co, Sydney) as well as a selection of the exhibiting artists and other financial experts.

All funds donated to 'The Financial Report' Pozible account will directly support the delivery of the public program, as this series of events sits outside of our regular public programming. The funding will support:

•Speaker fees for the public program participants,
•Travel and accommodation for the participants.

Join Artspace in the critical assessment of financial systems and their inherent relationships to the contemporary art market by making a donation to this significant program. Click Here for more information about the exhibition

*Donations to Artspace Visual Arts Centre Limited of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia.
