Chilean Basketball Tour • Sept 2013
The Chile tour/experience that I’m about to embark on kicks of late September where we will travel across to South America staying in Santiago, Chile for 21 days returning around mid-October. The team consists of SEABL, BigV, MMBL representatives and as well as an array of talented locals who make up the main body of the team. Then of course we can’t forget coaching personnel, management, and club representatives who’ll be spear heading the tour.

Though we are representing the Chilean community of Victoria, we are making a push for both Australian and Chilean communities to foster linkages and partnerships between orangisations and communities in an effort to bridge an international gap in Sporting Australia. Opening up links for athletes looking to pursue basketball outside of JUST America (which is thought of to be the end of the road for most).

The Breakdown
We are privileged to be playing a series of exhibition games against teams representing Liga Nacional de Basquetbol - Which roughly translates to National Basketball League. Some of those team’s included are: Puente Alto, Providencia, Boston College, Italian Stadium, and Los Leones College are a few among the many. We also have been given the go ahead to scrimmage and train with the Chilean National Team! .



Whilst On Tour
During the basketball tour we will be doing clinics, and mentoring youths through sharing our skills and knowledge not just that of basketballs experiences but the trials/tribulations faced by all athletes off the court pursing their goals on the next level. Our aim is to inspire hope in the next generation.

While in Chile I'm interested meeting as many people as possible and finding out about their stories, bringing them back to Australia and sharing them with ya'll. Raise a little more public awareness of issues faced by not just the communities but the people in them.
