THE STORY
Based on a fictitious children's book, this short film explores the emotional pain kids in and from domestic violence situations face long after the event. Under the Bed follows two lives, two times, two agonies. Told with live action and animation, it weaves together the anguish, despair and loss of innocence domestic violence heralds.

"Under the Bed" will bring to life the screenplay by Tony Hooper (writer/producer), exploring an all too true situation. Byron J Brochmann (the director) was attracted to it for its very real nature and its honesty. It is heartfelt and painful, a voice for those forgotten and downtrodden. An opportunity to talk about Domestic Violence, and why we need to say No. The shoot will take place within Melbourne.

“Under The Bed will open up our views on a life lived through violence and the effects it has on everyday children. To dive into another families home that may be nothing like our own. With the films visual sides shown through surreal animation and live action, it will also be accompanied by a very moving and powerful character narration. Our film will push some boundaries within the subject, but with a suggestive manner of just how full on it can be for families and children. We know these real situations can not be taken lightly. Awareness is the goal.”

Our aim is to produce a short film of exceptional quality.We have spent a long time ensuring that the script is ready, and to do it justice we need to bring together industry professionals and their skill. This will mean we need to cover significant expenses. We hope that you can help us raise the funds in order to shoot our film from December, 2013 to January, 2014.

The Challenges
The biggest challenge we face, is not raising the funds we need to bring this film to life. It will be an ambitious effort, including the weaving of two times into the one short film. We need our location, costumes and props to be as authentic as possible, so that the story we tell will carry the impact we are striving for.
And we are striving to tell the story of what Domestic Violence does to children both when it occurs, and the scars that remain many years later.
The more money we raise; the more resources we'll have to deliver a film that is respectful and high quality.
