Globally over 17 million women are living with HIV. On a daily basis, women living with HIV face discrimination, stigma and human rights abuses, and still struggle to have their voices heard.
‘Positively Fabulous+’ combines an online platform with innovative engagement strategies through digital media and public art events and an accessible peer-produced resource kit. The project supports women living with HIV to have their voices heard and to input into the decision-making that affects their health and wellbeing. With long-term benefits reaching well beyond 2015, this interactive arts project will amplify HIV-positive women’s voices for self-determination and effective harm reduction, human rights, social justice and equality.
The pilot production will commence in November 2013 with delivery of two public art events and several pilot episodes by end of December 2013.
‘Positively Fabulous+’ addresses the needs of its partner organisations through live-art events at several global conferences in Bangkok [ICAAP Nov 2013] and Melbourne [WAD 2013 and AIDS2014], including installations with up to 170 artistically designed ‘HIV-mannequins’ to represent the 17 million women living with HIV and the key issues they face. Hands-on community involvement includes yarn-bombing ‘cocoons’ for the mannequins and innovative projections featuring inspiring stories from Women Living with HIV.
The Challenges
if this happens we will need to limit the number of WLHIV being documented in Bangkok , thus reducing the cultural diversity of Womens' stories.
‘Positively Fabulous+’ will follow a Health Promotion Evaluation strategy, and will measure observations, effects and drivers through frameworks of:
Formative Evaluation: continuous reflection and evaluation, plan, act, reflect, cycle
Process Evaluation: Program activities, reach and engagement
Performative Evaluation: community participants’ voice, co-creative input and critical feedback will be included into the work throughout the process
Impact Evaluation: determine short-term objectives
Outcome Evaluation: Information from formative process to help refine and determine long-term changes
