Opal Ocean is an Australian based acoustic guitar duo that fuses genres to create their own universe of sounds.

Since the release of our debut album Lost Fables in late 2016 a lot has happened. We've  played countless shows, busked until our fingers bled, put out our single "MEXICANA” in 2017 and traveled the world playing music! We toured Europe in 2018 and 2019 passing through over 20 counties and played world class festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival and Gurten Festival. Still in the mindset to reach new territories, we have also toured the whole of Canada and New Zealand (in the same year!!). Meeting amazing people at every turn, these tours have been the most rewarding and mind opening experiences we've ever had.....and probably the most enduring too 😓

ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM

Our main project for 2020 will be to successfully record, release, market and tour with our highly anticipated second studio album. 

The vision is quite simple yet difficult to execute. We want to create an album that breaks all the rules and previously conceived notions of what an acoustic guitar is capable of; both musically and technically.

This album will be a totally new way of looking at the nylon string guitar, the album will also premiere ambitious playing techniques and modern production. We've put the finger on something very special with Lost Fables, now it is more about going deeper into the genre and seeing how far we can take it.

With only a handfull of acts producing music in this field the possibilities are limitless. 

We are also extremely excited to announce that Dream Theater's keyboard player, Jordan Rudess will be guesting on one of the tracks off this new album.

SO WHY POZIBLE?

Aside form touring, releasing new music is our biggest expense... Recording, mixing, mastering, the artwork, packaging/pressing, music videos and publicity costs us a tremendous amount as an independent act. Without a record label we can create as freely as we want, but we also have to be careful to budget wisely or we run the risk of running dry.

Lost Fables cost us $30,000AUD to make and release it's just crazy to think about. We worked on every aspect of the album without compromise or cutting any corners and we did everything we could to pay for that album. Busking was the primary income to finance the project, with another $2000 AUD raised on crowdfunding platforms. Unfortunately busking in our region of the world is not what it use to be and with the demands of touring we are not able to fund this album the same way we did with Lost Fables. 

But not to worry, many hands make light work. With your help there might be hope to keep this dream alive. 

There has been hundreds of thousands of people showing their appreciation for our music over the years and wanting to help move this project along. It is because of you that Opal Ocean is still holding through all of the challenges of today's music industry and for that we thank you.

This album will be epic!

We have so far contributed a large portion of our own savings from gigs and sales towards this project. 

However, as the album budget has continued to grow - we have reached the point of needing help to finalise the album. The money raised from this crowd-funding campaign will allow every facet of this project to become a reality, particularly major expenses such as pressing the album to vinyl, which costs nearly as much as making the recording itself!
