The Kids on Murphy Street
💡STORY💡
Young and newlywed couple, Jean and Jim, are struggling to adjust to their new suburban lifestyle. While battling against the mundane and unfixable tasks around their new house, Jean asks Jim to fix a broken light socket, but while he is out searching for a new lightbulb to test the socket, he meets their charming neighbour Marty, who himself is about to move
out of the neighbourhood. In Marty’s departure, both Jim and Jean are left confronted and uncertain about their future in their new suburban lifestyle, which has already begun to form cracks in their relationship.
💡THE CAST💡
Tegan Crowley as Jean, a young woman who is initially enthusiastic about her new house and life out in the suburbs, soon finds herself anxious with the upkeep of the house and the banality of the neighbourhood.
Josh Geary as Jim, Jean's husband, who similar shares a sense of ennui about his new home and looks towards opportunities of excitement among his neighbours to reignite a sense of life.
💡THE CREW💡
Meet the talented heads of department!
Alistair Green - Writer & Director
Alistair has spent his time in and outside of university following creative pursuits that have allowed him to bring his own style to his craft, writing and directing several projects. Alistair takes influence from his favourite short stories and art projects to deliver subtle and nuanced pieces that allow him to work closely with each department to produce simple but impactful projects. With 'The Kids on Murphy Street', he found here an opportunity to portray a modern version of a simple yet universal story of a couple’s relationship breaking down, and explore the both romantic and banal setting of suburbia in a way that allowed for each department to shine in their own way.

Budget Overview
As student filmmakers, we use every resource available to us… even the catering services of Mum & Dad Co. The Murphy Street crew pulled together every resource imaginable during Pre Production and Production to make sure we could bring this story to life. Although the making of The Kids on Murphy Street has been an incredibly rewarding process for all involved, it has also been a costly one! We’re now at the final leg of the process – post production. Funds raised through this campaign will be put towards the special finishing touches that will complete our film like colour grading and sound mixing, as well as recoup some of the production costs like equipment hire and production design.
We hope you’ll support us by donating, and join the Murphy Street team through this last stage of post production. We can’t wait to complete this film and have you see it!
