Honeybee Moves to the CBD
If someone asked me about my plans to open a bike shop three years ago, I would have said that is was only a dream.
Luckily enough, Renew Adelaide cottoned onto my dream and soon after, Honeybee Cycles was born on St Vincent Street in Port Adelaide. Since opening in August 2014, I have received and continue to receive loyal customer support as I offer affordable services and repairs with a focus on community-minded service for everybody, especially commuters and those who are new to cycling and cycling culture.
My dream for creating Honeybee came from a desire to build a space where people could seek help to get their bikes up and running at an affordable price. Honeybee's vision is to help generate one less car trip per week, with a bike commute. I set out to achieve this goal by offering affordable services and repairs and to create a fun interaction with people and bikes by hosting free community rides and Pop-Up-Cinemas from Honeybee.
Now, almost two years down the track, I'm ready to start a new adventure in the Adelaide CBD. it's been an epic adventure in the Port, but this is an exciting opportunity not to be missed - a new, busier and more accessible environment and an opportunity to grow the community and business. This move has been on the cards ever since I returned from my solo cycle touring extravaganza in Thailand (riding from Chaing Mai to Chaing Khong and from Chiang Mai South to Nakhon Sawan).
However, I'm needing a little help and support to get there, as the relatively small cost of moving the business is still a struggle for my small project. Hopefully, with a little community help, I can give back as much, or more, than I get through this Pozible.

How The Funds Will Be Used
- First three months rent (up front)
- Moving costs
- New shop fit-out and facade: recycled wood, painting, tools, fixtures, labour and materials
The Challenges
The budget for this project is tight and this is the biggest challenge for me - it could easily flow over when it comes to materials and labour. Time frame is also a challenge, as some materials may not be available as easily as expected. The more help I acquire from this Pozible, the more room Honeybee has for any circumstantial errors that may occur.
Another challenge is that the move could blow out over budget or recycled materials may not be available readily, and the time frame for the move may obstruct our getting our hands on some materials at such short notice.
Finally, any opening time lost for Honeybee is a challenge - the financial losses will accrue if Honeybee needs to stay closed longer than expected due to the move. This Pozible is to help cover these losses, and hopefully we can garner enough support to help us through any opening time the shop may lose.
Love and support!
A small donation will get you everlasting love and gratitude from Honeybee Cycles and ensure we get on our way to an exciting new chapter!
