MADHATTAN - FROM THE KIMBERLEY TO BIG APPLE OF NEW YORK CITY! 

Join us on a fabulous journey with our documentary Madhattan, as we trace the colourful personal and creative journey of Kimberley jillaroo-turned-milliner Felicity (Flic) Brown as she prepares for her FIRST SOLO SHOW at prestigious NEW YORK FASHION WEEK.

It's a dream come true for one Australian creative gal, who has spent nearly half her life in the magnificent landscape of Australia's magnificent KIMBERLEY region - the red dirt, blue skies, turquoise seas and a cast of colourful characters to match.

We're telling a story about innovation - creating wearable artworks using materials direct from the land; a story about community - Flic's creations weave together Broome locals, members of the region's indigenous communities, jillaroos, cattle station owners and even truck drivers as she goes about making her hats. It's also a story about overcoming adversity, following a brush with cancer, and above all, about a story about FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS.

This documentary film will take you on a journey from the relaxed lifestyle of one of Australia's most remote areas, to the hustle and bustle of one of the world's biggest and brightest cities as we follow Flic Brown on the JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME, armed with a collection of brilliant and breathtaking millinery creations, ready to wow the Big Apple!

Filmmakers Carolyn Constantine and Annie Parnell have started to bring this fascinating story about Australia's first outback milliner, maker of hats and headpieces who with the humblest of starts, is about to reach one of global fashion’s highest peaks: a solo show at NEW YORK FASHION WEEK.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to get this project off the page and onto the screen, via the amazing landscapes of the Kimberley and New York, following our gal Flic as she goes from the red dirt of Broome to the red neon of New York - home to the most influential Fashion Week in the world and one that Flic has been invited to: a once in a lifetime chance! 

And you can be part of our story and share in Flic's success by supporting our project and taking advantage of the great REWARDS we are offering, from digital stills from award-winning cinematographer and director Carolyn Constantine, to a ticket to the show to see Flic's creations at New York Fashion Week in September!!

So get on board this exciting journey as we take you from splendid isolation of Broome and The Kimberley, to the un-missable excitement of the CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS and Flic's  NEW YORK FASHIION WEEK SOLO DEBUT,  as capture the lead-up and event itself, turning the spotlight of the world's most glamorous and exciting fashion showcase with Australia's very own outback milliner there for the world to see.

So far we've self-funded the film, with Carolyn and sound recordist Craig Rossie, travelling to Broome to film Flic as she goes about her work making a collection of hats fit to show the world.
   

But it's an expensive exercise making a film, as we all know and we need your help to cover some of the filming, travel and production costs -editing and sound post-production, getting the right music for this wonderful film, etc. etc.

Money raised will be going towards making this film a reality, - it's a TIME CRITICAL PROJECT - e.g. New York Fashion Week is happening soon, in September and we really need to be there to capture it all on film; and with ensuring we have the highest production values on screen that we can create. We are already taking ourselves to Broome and New York to get this film in the can, and any funds raised will go towards paying for all the other things that go into making a film like this! 

The tyranny of distance is one big challenge to this project, as Flic is located in Broome, in the Kimberley desert region of north-western Australia, one of the most remote parts of our country and the show is in New York!  Thousands of kms away!



We are also constrained by time - this is a TIME CRITICAL project and as we can't control when New York Fashion Week happens, sadly, we have to make sure we are there with Flic to film everything. 

key things we need to pay for are:
* Hire of additional cameras and operators in NYC to get full filmed coverage of the show, backstage and out in front
* Composed or existing music - licences and/or composition costs
* Editing of all the footage into the final film - we'd love to pay our fabulous editor Anna plus edit suite costs
* Sound Recording and post-production costs - we'd love to pay the sound recordist who has been working for free.  
* Plus we need to cover costs for a great sound design, edit and mix.

  

These are the biggest challenges this project faces right now - time, distance and money!

But we've already put our own funds into it, buying airfares to film, to get to NY and support Flic and capture her and her hats on stage and to create this beaut little teaser - just a taste of things to come!!!
