Our very own original Australian comedy music theatre show "The Executioners" is heading to New York's SoHo Playhouse!

Here's how you can be a part of it!

This is what dreams are made of, a show that I have written, composed and then co-created with collaborators Gareth Chin, Lucian McGuiness, Chris Bennett and Aaron Austin-Glen, in response to world events and my feeling of helplessness as an individual in the face of big issues, has stood out from the crowd, so much so that we've been invited to perform this show in an historic Off-Broadway Theatre! 

SoHo PLayhouse has included The Executioners as part of their "Fringe Encore Series", which is a showcase of Artistic Director Darren Lee Cole's pick of the top 17 shows from around the world to share with New York Audiences.

Now we just need to get the show ready... that means rehearse, update the content for US audience, bring the political and social satire up to speed for the state of affairs in late 2019... and get to New York!

The History of the show (THE EXECUTIONERS):

Award-winning musical-comedy maverick Anya Anastasia brandishes her razor-sharp satirical wit, gleefully attacking and dismembering perils of the modern world with an armory of original songs. A futurist vision in white spandex and stacked heels, multi-instrumentalist Anya is a Gaga-esque judge, jury and executioner - tearing into the fabric of modern Western culture with her vocal prowess and trademark lyrical levity. Anya was last year’s South Australia & Adelaide Cultural Ambassador at the Edinburgh Fringe, an accolade that came with her award wins and with support from the South Australian Government. This year she has been selected to be part of the “Best of all Fests” international Fringe Encores Series at SoHo Playhouse, showcasing the best in Fringe Festival World Circuit.

Fresh, energetic and multi-dimensional – this is contemporary music theatre as it should be.
Interwoven soundscapes, lighting effects, and onscreen visual design by Underground Media underpin themes of technological overindulgence and the algorithmic sensory tsunami in our everyday lives -  as our iPhone-toting socially-conscious heroine tries to make a difference in the World.

Alongside musical-partner-in-crime, Gareth Chin, Anastasia stalks the 21st century landscape launching thrilling attacks on ecological screw-ups, 

techno obsessives, and self-congratulatory slacktivist keyboard warriors. 

‘The Executioners’ is digitally enhanced millennial neo-cabaret, cutting right to the (funny) bone. 

Like a tree falling in the forest, what is the point of saving the world if no one shares your status?!

Here's how you can be part of it (EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS):

We are launching our crowd-funding activities with a very exclusive launch party for which there are only 50 tickets available! This is where we'll do a showing of the re-development of The Executioners ahead of New York, in a very cool New York themed pop-up bar, with immersive theatre happenings and an anarchic auction of some historic costume items from my performing past.

After this more and more exciting prizes will be announced, from experiential, to feel good, from the personal to the universal. 

Singing telegrams customised to individual supporters, live streamed from Central Park! Postcards from backstage! Virtual tours of the New York theatre!

The best bits! (THE TREES & THE DOCUMENTARY):

And here’s the best bit! For every single person who donates we’re planting a tree. We realise and acknowledge that there are all different types of costs involved in an international touring production, not only financial costs, but environmental costs. We have decided that we want to address that by planting an area of trees, sufficient to offset the carbon of our travel flying overseas, but to go above and beyond that, for everyone who donates, we'll add a tree to this patch.... The more people who donate, however small, the more trees we plant. Please give what you can afford, and this promise means you’ll be giving twice, once to the planet and once to us….

Furthermore, we just know you're as excited as us about this incredible new career chapter, so our promise to you: our community of friends fans and supporters, is that we will make a documentary of the trip, supporters will be the first to see it, and those who choose the prize options to get the backstage tour or the video log will experience it in real-time.

Huge thanks to Arts SA who have funded a large portion of our tour costs which will cover our flights and accommodation in New York.

There is still a gap of $3364 in our budget which we are hoping to raise through fundraising events, auctions, and offering prizes, to you: our community, which will get us there. This funding gap we're yet to make up includes some re-mount and rehearsal costs to get the show updated and improved ready to wow New York Audiences, and the cost of some marketing and promotion when we are on the ground in New York. We will be documenting the tour to share with our friends, fans and online community too, as gratitude for the ongoing support love and interest.
