Vampir - a short film
After writing, directing & producing three short films on her own, actress turned filmmaker Anya Beyersdorf has assembled a dream team of filmmakers who are all donating their time and energy to make her fourth short film, VAMPIR.
VAMPIR is the story of Vladimir, a strange loner who lives in an old hut on the edge of town. One night he comes in from the fields for food. The frustrated, violent youth of the town haunt the shops, breaking things and tormenting a small kitten. Vladimir and Piotr are destined to meet, but their strengths and weaknesses will be found in unexpected places.

VAMPIR is an Australian short film with an edge. Inspired by an Eastern Bloc aesthetic, that will be reflected in the shooting style (by award-winning cinematographer Warwick Field), production design (by Emmeline Dulhunty), and original score (by composer John Kilbey), VAMPIR will be beautiful and bleak, heartfelt and haunting; a short drama that shows different sides of strength and weakness and what it means to be human.
We'd love for you to join us on our journey, and help us make a short film that we believe will be provocative and profoundly moving, and an unexpected addition to the Australian film landscape.

TONY ROGERS is VLADIMIR
A strange loner, Vladimir lives alone in a rundown cottage on the edge of town. He only comes out at night. Tall and broad shouldered, with a loping gait, he looks like a refugee from the German Democratic Republic in his faded parachute tracksuit.
Anya wrote the part of Vladimir specifically for Tony Rogers, who is best known as a director and producer and co-creator of the cult TV series WILFRED and webseries HOW TO TALK AUSTRALIANS. Tony also directed the feature film RATS & CATS, which Anya starred in, so VAMPIR will be a fitting continuation of this creative partnership.

How The Funds Will Be Used
We'll use the funds to cover some things we just can't do without on this film:
--transform an old empty hut that we've found into a believably liveable cottage
--hire extra lights and keep them powered up as most of the film will be shot at night
--track down and buy specific and hard-to-find costumes and props
--pay for an animal wrangler to train our kitten and take care of it on set
The funds raised will also allow us to look after and feed VAMPIR's hardworking team, and enable us to safely transport and accommodate weary crew after long night shoots in the countryside. And then there’s the mundane business of data drives, location fees and an insurance policy. So every dollar counts.
