Hello and welcome to The Master short film campaign!

Our film is a short 3 minute comedy that follows Hector, an experienced labourer, and his apprentice, Peter, who are spending their afternoon at their usual café in Springvale when Hector begins to recount his chance meeting with the enigmatic Federico Antonioni, a legend in the labouring world.

It is essentially a film that explores the multi-culturalism of Melbourne so we chose Springvale for its vibrant colours and busy location that attracts locals of different ethnicities.

As third year students of Swinburne, we are given the opportunity to shoot this project on 16mm film and how exciting it is for us to be able to take up this opportunity, we cannot put to words!

But to run this project a lot smoother, we need YOUR help. We are striving for the goal of $600 and the money will go to:

As you can see what we are looking to achieve is only a fraction of the amount of the total budget! We just need that little help that we hope you can offer us. :)

We love to tackle a great challenge and this campaign is only a small hurdle of the great project we will have achieved as a result from the help we have gathered from you!

To be given the opportunity to shoot on film means to be disciplined on the film set. We will be limited to a maximum of five takes of each shot in order to save film stock. With digital, in contrast, we are able to shoot as many takes as we want for one shot. The change of discipline will definitely create for a more stressful but perhaps more enjoyable environment!

Another challenge is to get this project up and running as soon as possible! We hope to begin filming on the 10th of May and will be a two day shoot. The film will be due on June 3rd. Though it may seem like we have time, film processing can take as long as up to 12-14 business days and that leaves time for editing to less than 5 days! This means we have to be extra prepared until the day of the production so as to not run into creating a third day for shooting.
