Bec Schofield

Hello Folks! 

Its Bec Schofield and Dave Mann here. We're opening the doors and inviting you beautiful people to help birth a little musical magic in the world. The time has finally come for us to record our first album together and its been in the cocoon baking and deepening its colours for .. quite .. some ... time..

Since Dave and I met in the Northern Territory nine years ago we've been busy building a house truck and a family. 

We travel the country in our big blue truck with our three children Gracie, Molly, Ned and old Jimdog. Our home on wheels runs on solar and waste veggie oil which affords us the ability to travel remotely. This is often too cost prohibitive for many touring acts and is really important to us. We feel priveleged to return annually to the Gascoyne and the Kimberley regions listening, learning, co-creating, facilitating workshops and sharing music that connects... stories and songs about love of land and family.

Individually we have recorded and released albums and asssisted many other musicians in doing the same. After years of writing and performing together we've not yet recorded our songs and we think its high time we did !! And you mob that have been humbugging us can finally quench your thirst too. What do you reckon?

SO.. We've booked into Real 2 Reel studio to work with award winning engineer James Newhouse in March. We're going to record the old fashioned way... live takes around the mic... and we're going to film it. We plan to have this album in our hands and ready for your hands by the time we travel north this May. It will feel so good to have a new offering and especially to have your support on the journey . So we have set our target at $5000 

The breakdown for this is;

Recording, mixing and mastering $ 2000 

Printing and Pressing of CDs $2000

Filming $1000

 The total cost for the project is more like $10,000 and any extra funds generated will go towards ;

Dave and I wear lots of hats; we're juggling between parent, producer, performer, inventor, activist, farmer, home school educator, guide, artist etc etc and often we struggle to find time to pick up the guitar let alone record an album! .. so these funds will mean the world to us in order to get things rolling ( literally) . To have James at the wheel will mean we can just be artists for a couple of days without trying to engineer it all ourselves. We've booked in the grandparents to look after the kids while we're in the studio so we can actually concentrate. OMMM azing!

We are resourceful folk and will no doubt create an album regardless how this goes .. eventually .. and ... these funds will mean we can really honour what we do, for ourselves and for you a whole lot sooner.
