We see beauty in what others might overlook. Where some see a rusty old bus, we see a Mothership—a symbol of endless possibilities and a canvas waiting to be transformed into something extraordinary. But we need your help to turn this dream into reality.

About Us:

We are a women-led arts collective based in Melbourne, passionate about transforming the forgotten and discarded into vibrant works of art. Our mission is to empower women and non-binary-identifying individuals to learn new skills, break down barriers, and create a community built on creativity, camaraderie, and self-expression. You might already know us for our work on Sparky, the once-forgotten electric utility vehicle that we lovingly learned how to restore and turned into a magical rainbow art car, thanks to the support of Melburners and Common Arts Victoria.

Our Next Mission: The Mothership

Our new project is bigger and bolder. We want to transform a 1947 Leyland PD2 double-decker bus, lovingly dubbed the Mothership, into "The Womb"—an immersive audio-visual sensory experience designed to take you back to the ultimate place of safety and creation. Imagine stepping into a sanctuary where you can reconnect with your innermost self, reflecting on what it might feel like to be in your mother's womb.

Transforming her into the womb is going to be a long process, so until then, The Mothership will serve as a creative hub and meeting place for our collective. We’ll host workshops, events, and collaborative art sessions at her new home in the courtyard of Retropolis in Preston, making it a space where ideas come to life, and creativity knows no bounds. 

Why Now?

We have a unique opportunity to purchase the Mothership, but time is of the essence. The current owner believes in our mission and is giving us this chance to secure it, but we need to raise the funds by October 30th to make it happen. If we don’t act fast, this incredible piece of potential art could slip through our fingers and into the hands of another buyer.

Every dollar you contribute goes directly to purchasing and relocating the Mothership to its new home at Retropolis. From there, we'll immediately begin making it safe and functional as a mini Maker space and base for the collective while we prepare for its full transformation into "The Womb." Your support will empower women to learn new skills, collaborate on large-scale projects, and create art that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and self-expression.

This project is going to be a slow yet inspiring journey, so this crowdfunding campaign is just the start! 

Here is the breakdown of why we need these funds now:

• Acquisition and Transportation:

  • $6,500 to purchase the Mothership (bus) from its current owner by October 31st.
  • $1,100 to transport the bus from South Dandenong to Retropolis in Preston

• Initial Restoration and Safety Setup:

  • $1,000 for materials to clean and build a new floor in the bus

• Crowdfunding and Campaign Costs:

  • $1,000 for the sourcing and delivery of crowdfunding rewards
  • $505.05 for platform fees for crowdfunding (5% of funds raised)

This is our initial raise but we have more fundraising opportunities planned for her ongoing restoration. We appreciate you taking this leap of faith with us to get us over the line to purchase her.
