'NINETY NINE' - SHORT FILM

Ninety Nine is a short film Written, Directed, Produced and Edited by Courtney Brown that was inspired by horrifyingly true stories from human traffick victims. The short film has already been filmed (you can see stills from the production all through this campaign) and we are now attempting to crowd fund for the post production of this film so it can start being entered into festivals in 2017.

MEET THE DIRECTOR:

Born in a little country town in New South Wales, Australia, Courtney moved to the big smog to pursue her dream of filmmaking. In December 2015, she graduated from the International Film School Sydney with an Advanced Diploma in Screen & Media Studies. During her studies she has written, directed and produced 5 short films as well as working on 30 other short films during her studies.

'Ninety Nine' is a passion project for Courtney, it's one of the main reasons she pursued a career in the film industry. In 2010 Courtney was deeply inpact by the true accounts that were being shared from the A21 Organisation. A21 has been rescuing and rehabilitating human traffick victims. They have also been helping prosicuting the people that have been trafficking these people. Courtney's dream is to one day make a feature film about the organisation from conception to first court case and in doing so she hopes that she will one day be able to help with spreading awareness and encouraging people to help where they can.

Courtney's other project is a polar opposite to this project. 'Shipping Anonymous' is a mockumentry pilot about crazy fans, that is currently on the film festival circuit, having already been accepted into three festivals in the United States and awaiting further submissions. Sasha Dyer, Jackie Brooke and Billie Milne have acted in both Shippers and Ninety Nine.

Courtney is currently working for Two Dogs Tv on their new show 'Body Hack'. She was also recently Assistant Director for Lasting Traces (Short Film) and on A Shared House, which was successfully funded on Pozible for Season Two, which she will be returning to as Assistant Director.

Composer:

Darren Lim is a composer for film & TV in Sydney, Australia. His scores have been featured in film festivals all around the world and as well as television. His latest work is his score for ‘Little Boy Blue’ which has already won four film festival awards in early 2016 and earned him a nomination for ‘Best Original Score’ at the Academy accredited St Kilda Film Festival in Melbourne, Australia. Other noticeable works include his percussive ‘Powder’ theme for the Australian Ballet Dancer Awards sponsored by Australian telecommunications provider, Telstra and his themes for lingerie and sleepwear designer company, Ginia.

Lim began scoring during his time at the Australian Institute of Music. Performance and mastering the art of the bass guitar was the main intention until he discovered film music. This has allowed him to further study composition, orchestration and arranging during the remainder of his time at the Australian Institute of Music which has helped him enter the Australian film and TV industry.

Lim has a wide array of styles to write from, making him a versatile composer. This is evident from his dark, pulsing and suspenseful score for ‘Little Boy Blue’, his emotional and romantic score for ‘Lights’, his comedic score for ‘Who’s Afraid of the Dark’ and many more. Lim is currently writing and releasing his first album which includes many different writing styles such as emotional, trailer, dark and epic which will be released near the end of the 2016 year on iTunes.

Darren Lim writes his music in his personal home studio in Sydney, Australia.

The Challenges

Trying to finish off our film in the best quality possible while being recently graduated film students has made it incredibly difficult to finish it as quality costs money. If we were to pay for the post-production by ourselves, it would take at least two years to pay for all of the post production costs, which means it would be two years until we were able to get this film on the festival circuit.

Your donations will help us fast track postproduction and get this film completed for the end of 2016
